Chapter 6
I immediately assembled my PR team and legal department, issuing rapid–fire instructions.
“Draft an official statement clarifying that all screenplay rights belong exclusively to our company,”
“Minimize any negative impact on the film’s release.”
“Explicitly state that Nathan Fuller, during his tenure as director, severely violated contractual agreements by replacing the predetermined lead actress, ignoring project timelines by starting production early, and improperly signing actress Olivia Reed.”
“Refute his baseless accusations of sabotage on Instagram, clearly stating that his statements constitute business defamation, and that we reserve all rights to pursue full legal action.”
“Also, release our internal security footage, all project email communications, and the documents he personally signed as evidence alongside the statement.”
That security footage clearly documented Nathan’s extraordinary preferential treatment of Olivia on set, showing
the stark contrast with how he treated other cast members.
“Finally, add a personal statement at the end.”
I paused briefly, then continued:
“Publicly announce that I, Valerie Carter, am filing for divorce from Mr. Nathan Fuller, and legal proceedings have already begun.”
The PR director and legal head exchanged a single glance before springing into action.
In less than an hour, this meticulously worded statement with irrefutable evidence was released through official company channels and all major media partners simultaneously.
The internet exploded. Every news outlet scrambled to cover the story, and public opinion swiftly reversed.
Trending topics about our divorce, Nathan’s contract violations, and Olivia’s manipulative victim playing rocketed to the top of social media.
People who had been sympathizing with Olivia’s “persecution” and cheering Nathan just hours earlier completely changed their tune after seeing the security footage and documented evidence.
Many flooded Nathan’s newly established studio page with vicious comments too vulgar to repeat.
My phone rang–my parents calling from overseas.
On the other end, my father didn’t launch into accusations or demand explanations.
“Val, we’ve seen the news. Do whatever you need to do.”

Chapter 6
“Just remember, the Carter family will always have your back.”
My mother chimed in, asking about my physical and emotional wellbeing, offering to pull some strings if needed.
I managed a small smile.
“Mom, Dad, don’t worry. This little situation? I can handle it myself.”
After hanging up, I felt a wave of warmth wash over me.
In this world, some people will never betray you.
Soon after, another call came through–Nathan’s parents.
As soon as I answered, his mother’s tearful voice came through.
“Valerie, sweetheart, all couples fight! You make up as quickly as you argue. Nathan just made a foolish mistake. Don’t hold it against him–surely this doesn’t warrant divorce…”
I cut her off, my tone calm but resolute.
“This wasn’t just a foolish mistake. For Olivia’s sake, he abandoned his basic principles.”
“He chose to position himself against me, handing a knife to a stranger and personally stabbing me in the back.”
“His behavior toward Olivia has crossed my bottom line.”
“There’s no future for us anymore.”
I hung up without waiting for a response.
At that moment, Nathan burst into my office.
“Valerie! What the hell is this?!”
“You’re divorcing me over some stupid work drama? Seriously?”
