Michelle’s shaky voice then trailed off. She genuinely sounded kind and understanding toward Herbert, concerned about him, even though she was the one being bullied, and had her childhood sweetheart taken from her by that same bully.
Yet, she still sounded like she refused to wish her bully any harm, instead wishing him all the best in his relationship with her, as if she were a lovesick fool.
Mandy straightened up. Her eyes looked weary and tired.
“Stop saying that Lyanna asked me for the bracelet. She wouldn’t even take it from me, even though I insisted that she did. She even told me that day that she worried other people would grow suspicious of her actual feelings for you.”
She held her coat around her shoulders and turned so that her back was to us. Then, she said disappointedly, “Herbert, can’t you tell whether a woman you’re living with has sincere feelings for you? She’s done so much for you. Yet, you choose to believe the lie someone else feeds you?”
A long while later, Herbert finally spoke. “Mom, I’m not marrying Michelle anymore.”
Michelle looked up, her eyes filled with unshed tears, as she stared disbelievingly at him.
“Lyanna, I’d been fooled in the past. I only thought of fulfilling my teenage promises instead of following my heart.”
Herbert looked at me with a deep look in his eyes.
“However, I realized that I’m just covered in your scent all over, and there are traces of you everywhere in the room. When I went to the jeweller’s and saw that ring, my first thought was that I wanted to see how it looked on your finger.
“I’m probably in love with you. I just hadn’t wanted to acknowledge that I’d fallen in love with someone who was only in love with my wealth. But fortunately, it was all just a misunderstanding.

Michelle, who’d always held her head up high, lowered her head and began to sob, her hair
in a mess.
She probably couldn’t understand it either–why a man she loved so deeply would confess to another woman right under in front of her very eyes.
Mandy looked at me in delight. However, I just smiled and shook my head.
I said, “Your love is too cheap, Herbert. I don’t want it.”

Someone took a photo of us at the police station and posted it online. At once, the online
community was in a frenzy.
A commenter jokingly said that this was World War III. There were even people betting on
whether Michelle or I would be the next Mrs. Fischer.
Herbert sent me a short text message, assuring me that he would take care of it and that I shouldn’t worry.
A short while later, he published a statement on his private social media account. It read, “I am only an old acquaintance of Ms. Michelle Watson. We are not a couple. As for the other
lady, I’m still in the midst of pursuing her because I refuse to give up on her.”
Someone asked for more context, including how the whole thing started and what caused
our relationship to break apart.
Herbert just replied with a simple, “I messed up and am trying to make it up to her.”
The comments then started flocking toward me.
Many commenters left comments on my studio’s social media account, telling me to calm down and forgive Herbert for what he’d done.
However, a few commenters found the situation suspicious and began to piece together

“Wasn’t there some news about Mr. Fischer and that Michelle Watson a few days ago that shook us all? They even said that they were engaged to each other! Now he says that they were just friends? Acquaintances? I think there’s something wrong with Mr. Fischer.”
“Ms. Summers got cheated on, didn’t she? That’s completely unforgivable. It’s a matter of principle!”
“What does he mean by ‘still in the midst of pursuing her‘? Stop acting innocent. I bet he just got caught cheating and is now trying to win her back. Too late, buddy. Too late.”
I didn’t let the commenters continue spinning their story and released a statement of my
own.
“I have nothing to do with Mr. Herbert Fischer from today onward. I’d greatly appreciate it
if everyone could please stop making up stories about us both. Also, please show my studio
and fragrances more love. I promise you that Lyanna Studios only offers the best, and we can prove it with our products.”
Less than two minutes later, I got a call from Herbert.
I declined his call and then blacklisted his number. He changed his number and sent me a
text message.
“Lyanna, please give me another chance.
“Lyanna, can’t we please go back to how we were before?
“Lyanna, I was wrong.
“Please answer the phone.”
I replied with two words. “Absolutely not.”
Then I turned off my phone and boarded the plane to Dayris.
