Chapter 4
I returned to my studio and cleaned myself from head to toe.
Just after changing into a new set of clothes, Mandy called, asking me to head over to
Fischer Manor for a bit.
I hesitated for a moment before answering, “Alright. I also have something to tell you, Mrs.
Fischer.”
Mandy was quite influential within the Fischer family. When she was young, she was put in charge of the family business, Fischer International, reporting only to the chairman. Everyone else in the industry had always acknowledged her as “the Fischers‘ trump card“.
However, neither Mandy nor I was the kind of people who liked faking courtesy just for the sake of it. We preferred to talk things through in person.
I drove all the way to Fischer Manor, where Mandy was eagerly waiting for me at the gate.
As soon as I got out of the car, Mandy came up to me and held my hand. She said, “My dear, I heard that you’ve been busy with a competition lately. You must be exhausted.”
Her face immediately fell when she saw that I was no longer wearing the bracelet. She then looked behind me and asked, “Where’s Herbie? Didn’t he come with you?”
I helped her to the couch and made sure that she was seated properly when I met her gaze and said, “Mrs. Fischer, I’ve broken up with Herbert.”
Mandy’s expression immediately turned stern. The resilience of her younger self still
showed on her face.
“Did that Michelle Watson come looking for you? She’s just returned from abroad, yet she’s already caused such a huge issue! Just you wait, I’ll teach her a lesson she’ll never forget!”
Mandy then reached for her phone.
I quickly stopped her and said, “Mrs. Fischer, Michelle’s not the main problem. It’s

Herbert. He doesn’t love me anymore. Or, maybe, he never loved me in the first place.”
I’d rehearsed this conversation plenty of times in my head. Yet, as I spoke the words, I
couldn’t help but feel a sense of sorrow washing over me.
I gritted my teeth and forced my tears away.
“If you insist that he and I continue seeing each other, it would only be more torturous for
everyone involved. It would be better for us just to call it quits now so we can each go our
separate ways.”
Mandy looked like she still wanted to say something, but I stood up first.

“I’ve already returned your gold bracelet to Herbert. Don’t worry. You’re still my biggest
and most well–respected client, and I will only treat you as such. But if you wish to continue discussing my relationship with him, I’m sorry, but I’ll have to excuse myself
first.”
After I was done speaking, I turned away quickly, not daring to look at Mandy’s reaction. I
couldn’t stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks.
“Lyanna, Herbert’s just being misled by that vixen. You know what he’s like. He must have been sincere about you before that! Can’t you… Can’t you just reconsider? I really like you.”
I lowered my eyes and calmly said, “Mrs. Fischer, you know me. I would never have made such a decision in a hurry. This is a decision that I’ve made over the past month, after much deliberation, time and time again.”
The first time, Herbert stood me up at the restaurant for five hours.
The second time, he grabbed my wrist and insisted that I return the gold bracelet to
Michelle.
The third time, he used the perfume I gave him on her.
I had given him too many second chances when he never even realized it. So, I left determinedly and walked out into the dark of the night.

Chapter 4
It was past midnight by the time I returned to my studio.
The door was locked, and the lights were dim.
Suddenly, I found that someone was waiting in the shadows for me.

I got a huge fright and immediately flipped the light switch, flooding the place with light.
A familiar figure then walked out. He took several steps toward me, his stance still upright as ever. He asked, “Where have you been, Lyanna?”
I ignored him and turned around before walking through the door.
When I ignored him, he shamelessly followed me in.

“Were you jealous because you saw her feeding me? It’s just an old habit of mine. I forgot to reject her. You know that I’ve been friends with her since—”
I interrupted him.
“You know what, Herbert? You should be with Michelle right now–probably tangled up in the sheets or something–instead of showing up here. I’m tired. I really don’t want to see
you
again.”
