Chapter 6
When Aria returned to the Lin family home from the police station, the house was empty.
She didn’t think much of it and was about to head upstairs when the sound of footsteps suddenly came from the entrance.
The door opened, and Mr. and Mrs. Pierce walked in first, followed by Maxwell leading a sobbing, trembling Serena.
Upon seeing Aria, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce were instantly furious. “You crazy girl, what were you thinking? Were you the one who called the police?!”
“Serena just accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. It wasn’t intentional! Why would you
report her? Do you want her to go to jail?”
While comforting Serena, Maxwell didn’t miss the opportunity to scold Aria as well. “You only
suffered minor injuries. Do you realize Serena was questioned for hours? If we hadn’t signed a settlement agreement, who knows how much more she would have suffered!”
“Serena’s health is fragile. If something had happened to her, could you have lived with that
responsibility?”
Right, she had only suffered “minor injuries“-just nearly died hovering between life and death–while poor Serena had to endure a few hours of questioning.
Aria laughed bitterly in her rage. For the first time ever, she looked defiantly at her adoptive parents. “Yes, I called the police. What about it?”
She had always been obedient before, but today’s rebellion was something Mr. and Mrs. Pierce couldn’t tolerate. Without another word, they moved to punish her.
‘How dare you! What kind of attitude is this?”
‘I’m going to teach you a lesson today, you ungrateful child!”
As soon as those words left their mouths, bodyguards stepped forward with rope and tied her up.-
She was numb, like a dying fish, allowing them to bind her and force her to kneel on the ground.

Chapter 6
Then Mr. Pierce grabbed a whip from nearby and began striking her viciously.
“Wretched child! Absolutely wretched!”
Each time the whip struck her body, it left a bright red mark.
One, two, three…
She lost count of how many lashes she’d received, only hearing the whistling sound of the whip cutting through the air and Mrs. Lin’s encouraging words.
“That’s right, teach her a good lesson.”
“I should never have given birth to her in the first place!”
Aria’s body trembled, and she suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with bloody tears.
Seeing such despair in her eyes, Mr. Lin, who had raised his hand to strike again, involuntarily stopped.
She bit her lip until it bled, each word forced out like shards of glass–tears mixed with blood streaming down her pale cheeks as she spoke. Her hands clenched into fists so tight her nails dug crescents into her palms, shoulders hunched like she was trying to fold herself into nothing. Every breath shook with the extreme pain, leaving her gasping for air.
“You don’t want me as your daughter, but did you ever think I might not want you as my parents?”
“You brought me into this world, forced me to be Serena’s blood bank, but did you ever ask if I was
willing?”
“All my life, I’ve worn the clothes Serena didn’t want, eaten the food she didn’t like. We share the same birthday, yet you’ve never once given me a gift.”
“Did you ever truly see me as your daughter? Do you know what foods I like? What colors I prefer? What I’m allergic to? What I fear?”
“If I could, I would rather never have been born into this world.”
“Because in this world, nobody loves me…”
Everyone present was completely stunned. Hearing her speak about these past injustices one by one made them all feel a tightness in their chests.

Chapter 6
Maxwell, who had just arrived at the Lin residence, first saw Aria kneeling on the ground, covered
in wounds.
When he heard her desperately say that nobody in this world loved her, his heart shuddered
violently.
He stepped forward to help her up. “Aria, I love you…”
Aria gave him a bitter smile, shaking her head as she turned to walk away.
Maxwell instinctively wanted to follow her, but behind him, Serena suddenly clutched her head and collapsed backward.
“Uncle, my head hurts so much…”
He paused, and ultimately turned back toward Serena.
