Chapter 25
Two years passed quietly, and Aria unfailingly visited Maxwell every week.
On this day, she sat by Maxwell’s hospital bed as usual. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating her increasingly mature and resilient profile.
“Maxwell, did you know? Serena has been sentenced to life imprisonment. She’ll never get out.” Aria’s voice was calm and composed, her eyes no longer showing the anger and fear they once held. “All those painting awards she stole from me have been corrected and now bear my name. These past two years, I’ve been working hard on my painting, held several exhibitions, and gained recognition from many people.”
She paused briefly before continuing, “Also, I’m getting married–to Lucas. He’s been so good to me, staying by my side these two years, giving me so much warmth and support.”
Aria’s gaze became distant as she fell into memories.
“Maxwell, back when I was with the Pierce family, I was always bullied. You were the only one who was occasionally kind to me.”
“I’ve been having dreams lately. Once, in the garden at the Pierce house, I accidentally fell and scraped my knee. It hurt so much that tears welled up in my eyes. The Pierce family either didn’t notice or just glanced at me briefly before going back to caring for Serena. Only you–you rushed over, carefully helped me up, your eyes full of concern, and gently said: ‘Don’t cry, Aria. Let me put
some medicine on it. It won’t hurt soon.“”
“Back then, your embrace was warm and reliable. It was the first time I felt what it was like to be
cared for. So I really depended on you, and gradually fell in love with you.”
“But later I found out that your kindness to me was mostly because of Serena. Do you know how heartbroken I was? I hated you–hated you for treating me that way.”
Her voice trembled slightly, as if those past pains still left some trace. “But now, it’s all over. I’ve let go of all that love and hate, and my heart is calm.”
Aria took a deep breath, looking at Maxwell’s peaceful face. “Maxwell, this is the last time I’ll come to see you. From now on, I’ll start my new life. You should wake up soon too and live your own life.”
A tear slid from the corner of her eye, landing on Maxwell’s hand.

She gently wiped away her tears, stood up, and took one last look at Maxwell before slowly walking out of the hospital room.
Her silhouette was straight and determined, as if saying goodbye to her past self while welcoming the new life ahead.
After leaving the hospital, Aria returned to the home she shared with Lucas.
Lucas was busy in the kitchen, preparing her favorite dinner. Seeing Aria return, he smiled, walked over, and gently embraced her. “How was it? Did you go see Maxwell?”
Aria nodded, leaning into Lucas’s embrace. “Yes, I said everything I needed to say. I think it’s time to let go of the past and welcome our future.”
Lucas held her tightly. “That’s right, Aria. We’ll have a happy future together.”
Aria’s lips curved into a small smile as she gazed at the crescent moon outside the window.
It’s no longer that everyone loved Serena and no one loved Aria.
Now, everyone loved… Aria.
