Chapter 18
Shortly after, the Pierce family and Maxwell hurried in as well. When Mrs. Pierce saw the scene, she
collapsed to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably: “My daughter! Serena, how could you do this?”
Mr. Pierce’s eyes blazed with fury as he glared at Serena: “You ungrateful child! Doing something so
heinous–how could the Pierce family have someone like you!”
Maxwell’s face was filled with self–blame and anxiety. He stared intently at the knife in Serena’s hand, terrified she might impulsively harm Aria. He said in a low voice: “Serena, if you have an issue, take it out on me. Let Aria go, she’s innocent.”
Observing everyone’s reactions, Serena’s face twisted into a disturbing smile. She waved the knife wildly and said maniacally: “Innocent? She stole everything from me–my family, my love!”
Then, with a flash of viciousness in her eyes, she stared at everyone present and shouted: “Well, if
you care about her so much, then get down on your knees!”
Aria looked at her in disbelief. “Serena, what are you-”
Before she could finish, Lucas was the first to kneel down.
Following him were Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley.
Then Maxwell.
And finally, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce and Connor–all kneeling before her.
“We’re kneeling. Now let Aria go.”
Seeing this, Aria was stunned.
But Serena, watching everyone kneel before her, wasn’t satisfied. Instead, she became even more hysterical.
“So this is how much you all love Aria! You’re even willing to kneel for her!”
“What about me? Dad, Mom, Brother, Maxwell–you used to love me the most.” Serena’s gaze swept over the Pierce family and Maxwell, her eyes filled with a mixture of pain and madness.

Chapter 18
“And the Kingsley family, aren’t you supposed to be the most noble? The world’s richest
family–kneeling for this worthless woman? Why? WHY?”
“Forget kneeling!” Lucas shouted fiercely. “If you let her go, I would even die for her!”
Mr. Pierce looked at the deranged Serena, his eyes full of heartache and helplessness. With a trembling voice, he said: “Serena, we did love you once. But look at what you’ve done. You’ve hurt Aria time and again. Your heart is now filled with jealousy and hatred.”
Mrs. Pierce begged through tears: “Please wake up, don’t make any more mistakes. Hurting Aria
won’t bring you happiness either.”
Connor’s face was filled with anguish as he gritted his teeth: “Serena, you weren’t like this before.
What turned you into what you are now?”
Maxwell shouted sternly: “Serena, you can’t keep making mistakes. Aria is innocent. Let her go!”
Serena ignored them all. She suddenly stopped moving, a sinister smile spreading across her face.
With the knife still pressed against Aria’s throat, she led her to the door.
A moment later, she slowly pulled out a remote control from her pocket. “None of you are leaving! I’ve prepared everything–there are bombs hidden here. If I press this button, everyone dies!”
Everyone was shocked. They hadn’t expected Serena to be so insane that she would resort to using
bombs.
Before they could react, Serena pushed Aria back inside, dropped the bomb, turned and left, locking
the door behind her.
Then, the bomb started ticking at Aria’s feet.
“Aria!”
Everyone rushed toward her.
