Chapter 14
Aria turned and walked away, ignoring the group behind her.
The Pierce family and Maxwell had already made up their minds when they came–if Aria wouldn’t forgive them, they’d stubbornly wait for as long as it took.
So when they saw Aria leaving, they simply followed behind her.
When Aria returned home, Mrs. Kingsley, who had been waiting anxiously, immediately came out
to greet her.
“Aria, you’re finally back! Your godfather made the sweet and sour ribs you love, and I washed those cherries you adore. We’ve been waiting for you! Look at you, going out to paint without dressing warmly enough. Aren’t you cold?”
“Your brother has been thinking about you constantly. If you hadn’t come back soon, I swear he
would’ve searched the entire island for you.”
Hearing this, Aria smiled softly. Just as she was about to speak, an exceptionally handsome, tall man
walked out from behind Mrs. Kingsley.
“Haven’t I made it clear that Aria shouldn’t call me ‘brother‘ anymore? I never said I wanted to be
siblings with her.”
At these words, Aria’s face suddenly flushed red.
These past days, her godparents had been incredibly good to her, practically spoiling her to pieces, giving her the affection she’d never experienced in twenty years.
And as for Lucas Kingsley–he’d been unbelievably kind to her.
But that kindness… she wasn’t a child, she could tell it wasn’t the affection of a brother for his sister.
It was…
The way a man cares for a woman.
Mrs. Kingsley had noticed it too. She chuckled and patted her son’s hand. “Alright, alright, no more ‘brother.‘ After all, who knows what your relationship might become in the future?”

Chapter 14
Aria was ushered inside, surrounded by the family who treated her like a princess.
Standing at the doorway, witnessing this scene, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce, Connor, and Maxwell were
stunned into silence.
This kind of family warmth wasn’t unfamiliar to them.
They had once treated Serena this way.
They had seen Aria’s longing looks, her desperate need for affection, but they had always ignored
her.
Now, Aria had found love–just not from them.
The Pierce family felt a heart–wrenching pain, while Maxwell was consumed by regret, suffering, and jealousy.
As a man himself, he could clearly see what that Lucas guy felt for Aria!
After everyone sat down at the table, Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley noticed the wealthy–looking people standing at the door and curiously asked Aria who they were.
Aria’s brow furrowed slightly as she coldly replied, “Don’t worry about them. They’re nobody
important.”
Those words cut through the hearts of everyone standing at the doorway.
Mrs. Pierce couldn’t help covering her mouth, quietly sobbing.
Mr. Pierce’s eyes reddened as he recalled how he had neglected Aria, filled with regret.
Connor hung his head, hands clenched tightly, his heart heavy with guilt.
Maxwell’s gaze was fixed on Lucas and Aria, jealousy eating away at him like a venomous snake. He had always assumed Aria would continue loving him, waiting for him. But now, she had another man by her side–one who gave her genuine affection.
Lucas seemed to notice the stare from outside. He looked up slightly toward the door, his eyes
carrying a warning.
He gently held Aria’s hand, as if declaring something to everyone present.

Chapter 14
Aria noticed Lucas’s gesture, her face turning slightly pink, but she didn’t pull away. She knew Lucas was protecting her, ensuring she wouldn’t be hurt again.
The Pierce family and Maxwell kept their vigil outside the door for three whole days.
Yet Aria never once came out to see them.
After three days, the Pierce family and Maxwell looked increasingly worse–cracked lips, dull eyes.
Mrs. Pierce, already frail, finally collapsed after the long period without proper food or water.
Mr. Pierce, Connor, and Maxwell panicked, rushing to help her up.
Inside the house, Aria heard the commotion and felt her heart tighten.
Lucas gently held her hand, giving her a reassuring look, as if saying, “Don’t worry, I’m here. Everything will be fine.”
