Chapter 3
Andrew Sinclair smirked, his lips curving with a hint of seduction as his eyes flicked over Nora’s face before settling on his visibly nervous driver.
“Who told you to help her? Get out and check for any scratches on the car. Record everything, and don’t give her any chance. to pull a scam,” Andrew’s voice was thick with sarcasm, cutting through the tension.
The driver, his posture immediately stiffening, nodded. “Yes, sir. She bumped into the front of the car earlier. I’ll inspect it thoroughly,” he said, reaching for the door handle.
Surprised by their exchange, Nora slammed the door shut before the driver could leave. “I’m not scamming anyone! You were speeding and honking like a maniac in a residential area. Just because you’re in a luxury car doesn’t mean you can ignore the rules!” she snapped.
Andrew’s gaze returned to her, his eyes dark and unreadable in the fading light. “Oh? So you’re not a scammer? Then what would you call blocking my car and demanding my contact number? Harassment?” His voice was calm and indifferent, but his words stung.
Nora felt her frustration rising, and she let out an exasperated chuckle. She leaned in slightly, eyes locking onto him as if challenging him.
“You’re poisoned. I’ll give it two more years before you start losing muscle strength. After that, you’ll be completely dependent on others to survive. Harass you? What could I possibly want from you? Do you actually think you’re that irresistible?” she shot back, her tone scathing.
The driver gasped, his hand covering his mouth in disbelief. ‘How could she talk to Mr. Sinclair like that?‘ he thought.
Andrew’s expression darkened, a cold and dangerous aura enveloping him. ‘How does she know about the poison?‘ he wondered, his mind racing.
“Who are you?” Andrew demanded, his voice low and threatening.
Nora leaned closer again, her eyes gleaming with mischief. “Why? Are you interested in me now? Sir, I don’t think we know each other well enough for you to be this curious. I could easily report you for public harassment,” she said, throwing his own words back at him with a mocking smile.
Her beauty was undeniable, but the sarcasm in her smile made it all the more cutting. She withdrew her hand from the car, taking a step back. “Get out and deal with this. I’ll take care of your car, and you’ll replace what I lost. And, apologize!” she demanded, her voice cold and unwavering.
The driver froze, unsure whether to follow her demand or stay inside the car.
Andrew’s gaze hardened as he gave Nora a sharp, cutting look. Without saying another word, he glanced at his driver through the rearview mirror and commanded coldly, “Drive.”
The driver immediately rolled up the window and sped off, leaving Nora standing there, momentarily speechless.
Coughing as she waved away the lingering exhaust fumes, she muttered irritably, “What a ridiculous man. He’s the one who wanted to check his car, yet he just drove off like nothing happened!”
Nora crouched down to gather her scattered belongings, glancing up just in time to see the Maybach disappearing down the road toward the Martin family estate.
“With a car like that, he’s got to be someone powerful. When did the Martin family start mingling with such influential people?” she wondered aloud, her mind buzzing with curiosity.

Meanwhile, in the backseat of the Maybach, Andrew sat straighter, his once–relaxed posture now tense. His gaze drifted to his legs, the woman’s biting words echoing in his head. ‘Losing strength? Becoming dependent on others?‘
Her words had cut deep, like daggers, striking where he was most vulnerable. Was it just a wild guess, or does she have some uncanny ability to diagnose people from a distance?‘ His thoughts spiraled. And why did she seem so familiar? Where have I seen her before?
When Nora arrived at the estate’s entrance, the confrontation between the security guards and a young man was still in full swing. Three guards stood firm with their batons in hand before a battered old Santana, its hood patched and its trunk struggling to stay closed. Dressed in a loud floral shirt and jeans, a young man stood defiantly with his hands on his hips.
“Are you looking down on me? Why did you let the car pass but not mine?” he shouted, frustration etched across his face.
The crowd around him snickered, casting amused glances his way. Unfazed by the attention, Nora approached the commotion with a steady composure.
I’m Nora. Are you here to pick me up?” she asked calmly, her eyes locking onto the young man as she introduced herself.
The man’s indignant expression faltered. His bravado wavered as he stood frozen, visibly taken aback by her presence. He instinctively straightened up, dropping his hands to his sides, trying to appear more composed.
Nora’s appearance was worlds apart from what he had imagined. Her flawless skin, striking features, and elegant figure gave her an air of effortless grace. Even in simple casual attire, she exuded an undeniable queenly presence.
Though she seemed distant and unapproachable, her eyes held a captivating charm. They radiated a cool, seductive allure with every casual glance, effortlessly drawing in anyone who met her gaze.
Is the private investigator blind?‘ the man thought, staring at her in disbelief. “They said she was a stubborn, unruly girl who couldn’t even get into college, but she’s nothing like that. She’s… captivating
Gabriel Wright adjusted his outfit and flashed a bright smile at Nora. “Hello! I’m your brother’s good friend. I happened to be in town today, and since your family doesn’t have a car, they asked me to come pick you up.”
Nora calmly handed over her suitcase. “Thank you,” she said.
Gabriel hesitated for a second but quickly regained his composure. Grinning broadly, he hurried to open the passenger door for her. Unfortunately, he yanked too hard, and the door came off its hinges.
Laughter rippled through the crowd again, but Nora remained unfazed. She slid into her seat, grabbed the car door from Gabriel, and reattached it with a firm push.
‘What the hell!‘ Gabriel thought, his eyes wide as the car shook from her strength. ‘Is she superhuman or something?”
Quickly recovering, he threw her suitcase into the trunk and hopped into the driver’s seat. With an apologetic grin, he said, “I’m really sorry about the car! It’s been through five owners already, so please excuse its quirks.”
“It’s fine. I don’t mind,” Nora responded, fastening her seatbelt with an air of serene indifference.
Gabriel’s admiration for her grew by the second. ‘She’s beautiful, has a great attitude, and doesn’t care about appearances or wealth? Even if she couldn’t read a word, I’d happily take a dozen sisters like her, he thought.
He turned the key in the ignition, trying multiple times, but the engine refused to start. Sweat began to bead on his forehead, though he masked his embarrassment with a smile.

Danin those idiots! Gabriel fumed silently. “They gave me junk instead of a real car. Forget the door! At least let me drive it!
back? Do they want me to push the car all the way
“Let me handle it. Nora suggested as she noticed the car’s issues.
Gabriel watched in awe as she deftly tugged at a few wires with her delicate fingers, seemingly hot–wiring the vehicle. In no time, the engine sputtered to life.
“This car’s on its last legs. If you’re not planning to sell it, buy some parts, and I’ll help you fix it. Consider it as payment for picking me up today,” Nora said nonchalantly, dusting off her hands before buckling her seatbelt again.
With that, she leaned back, clearly exhausted. She had been tending to Henry, using acupuncture to prolong his life. However, despite her efforts, he had passed. After the emotional strain of the funeral, she was completely drained.
Gabriel nodded, deciding not to disturb her, though excitement bubbled within him. ‘Who cares if she isn’t highly educated? She’s strong, practical, and can fix cars! That’s seriously impressive!‘ he thought.
Before pulling away, Gabriel quickly pulled out his phone and typed a message. [Julian! Can I borrow your sister for a few days? She’s such a dear!]
Meanwhile, back at Harmony Chateau in Hofport, Julian Harper shot up from the couch after reading the message. His face tightened with concern as he gripped his phone tightly, causing it to creak under the pressure.
“Mom, Dad, Nora’s on her way home, and I’m going to pick her up now,” Julian announced, urgently heading toward the
door.
Moments later, a sleek silver Pagani roared out of the driveway.
Julian’s mind raced, regretting listening to Gabriel’s absurd plan. ‘What if Nora gets the wrong impression of the Harper family and doesn’t want to reconnect? Mom and Dad will kill me if that happens!”
