Chapter 6
All the color drained from Vivian’s face.
The little boy was at the perfect height to spot the bracelet on her wrist.
Vivian frantically tried to hide it, still attempting to lie.
“Sweetie, I think you’re mistaken…”
“This… this was my mother’s…”
But Matthew wasn’t buying any of her bullshit. The second he saw that bracelet, his entire
expression changed.
Pure rage blazed in his eyes, but his voice came out ice–cold.
“Take it back.”
One of his men immediately understood, using a quick takedown move to drop Vivian to the ground.
Soon all you could hear was Vivian screaming.
Seeing what happened to her, the businessmen completely lost their shit, dropping to their knees and begging for mercy.
Someone started slapping themselves in the face, and suddenly everyone was doing it–the sound of
palm against cheek echoing everywhere.
They were terrified of ending up like Vivian.
But Matthew ignored them completely, rushing into the building with his team.
Only Sebastian stood there like a statue.
Disbelief, anger, betrayal–everything was churning in his gut, his face burning with shame.
Vivian struggled to her feet, her face already swelling up.
Instinctively, she tried to throw herself into Sebastian’s arms for comfort like she’d done countless

times before.
Instead, Sebastian backhanded her hard across the face.
“You lying bitch!”
Sebastian’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice hoarse with rage. “Why did you lie to me? You made me hurt Julia!”
Vivian clutched her cheek in shock.
“You chose to believe me! Sebastian! You said you’d always trust me!”
They started tearing into each other like animals.
Meanwhile, the businessmen who felt screwed over surrounded them, seeing red.
“We’re gonna kill you both! You fucking idiots got us on Tannor’s bad side! We’re all dead!”
Fists and feet rained down on the fighting couple.
When Matthew burst through the door and saw me tied up with my face bloody and swollen, his eyes immediately filled with tears.
Three little voices screamed “Mommy!” as they rushed to me.
While the team medic treated my broken nails, Matthew held my other hand tightly, his face dark
with fury.
Mr. Lewis had already told him everything that happened.
Holding Matthew’s hand and comforting each of the kids, my adrenaline finally crashed and I passed out during the bandaging.
When I woke up, it was noon the next day.
The noise outside had woken me up.
I yawned and opened the window, then my eyes went wide at what I saw.
In the community garden near the building, about a dozen businessmen were bent over pulling weeds and planting vegetables with their sleeves rolled up.

I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.
Because Sebastian and Vivian were out there too.
These pampered rich assholes were sweating buckets, not even daring to wipe the dirt splattered on their expensive clothes.
Little Lily was supervising them from the shade with my three kids.
“Wrong! Wrong! Those tomatoes are crooked! Start over!”
One of my little ones put his hands on his hips and added grumpily.
“No lunch until you do it right!”
Even with bloody blisters on their hands, the businessmen kept fake–smiling.
“Yes, yes, I’ll replant them right now.”
Under a nearby tent, Matthew’s people were grilling burgers with the locals.
Some townspeople were watching with plates in their hands, entertained as hell. “Look at that fat
one, Joe–he’s planting worse than my dog digs holes.”
Behind me, the door creaked open as Matthew came in with a takeout bag.
Seeing I was awake, his eyes immediately brightened.
He crossed the room in two steps, his warm lips pressing against mine without warning.
ushed him away, trying not to laugh as I pointed outside.
This… is all your doing? Only you would think of something like this.”
Matthew chuckled.
“Just an appetizer. Figured they should give back to the community first.”
For the next two days, Matthew basically kept me under house arrest to recover.
That evening, I finally found a chance to sneak downstairs for a walk.

But the moment I stepped outside, a shadow blocked my path–Sebastian.
