Chapter 5
I froze and whipped around to see Nathan staring at Rebecca beneath me, his face thunderous with rage.
Hunter shoved me aside and carefully lifted Rebecca into his arms. They didn’t even see me–just like three years
ago.
Rebecca kept sobbing, covering her face and trembling all over while Nathan looked at her with heartbreak, then turned to me with pure hatred flashing in his eyes.
“Apologize!”
My eyes welled up as I stammered: “You don’t know what they did-”
He cut me off coldly: “I said apologize!”
Hunter had reached his breaking point and hurled a glass at my feet: “Stop playing the victim and fucking apologize!”
I stood there frozen as my head buzzed with white noise. They didn’t see my clothes scattered across the floor or that humiliating video–only my raised hand.
The silence was deafening except for Rebecca and her friends‘ gleeful whispers and the servants‘ sighs.
This house had never been mine, not even for a second.
I laughed, but it was pure relief.
As I calmly turned to leave, the butler started to speak up for me, but Nathan and Hunter’s voices rang out in unison:
“Don’t stop her! Let her go!”
“We’ve spoiled her rotten all these years! She doesn’t know her place anymore!”
“If she keeps acting up, she can go back to that hellhole!”
They knew exactly where to stick the knife to hurt the most. But I felt nothing as I walked out of that house and got in a car to the hospital.
I signed my name without hesitation when the doctor confirmed everything, even as Nathan and Hunter’s calls started flooding in like they somehow sensed what was happening and were desperately trying to stop it.
I ignored them all and turned off my phone. When they pushed the anesthesia into my system, I felt no fear–only freedom.
Meanwhile, back at the house, Nathan and Hunter looked unusually tense.
After what felt like forever, Nathan asked: “Any word from Jessica?”

Chapter 5
Hunter snapped back: “You’ve asked me that every minute! Can’t you see she’s not taking my calls?”
Nathan’s face darkened as he shot to his feet: “It’s getting late. She’s being so immature–we barely said anything to her and she’s throwing this big a tantrum.”
His eyes fell on the clothes scattered across the floor, which he and Hunter had carefully folded and put away. They’d both lost control earlier and said things they shouldn’t have, and now they were both regretting it.
Rebecca walked over with two drinks: “Hunter, Nathan, have a drink to unwind.”
The three of them used to love drinking together–those intimate moments were unforgettable. But under her hopeful gaze, both men shook their heads in unison:
“I quit drinking.”
Rebecca froze. Before she could ask why, they both stood up and headed for the door.
“Where are you going?” She blocked their path, demanding answers.
Nathan explained patiently: “To find Jessica. She’s been gone for hours and won’t answer her phone.”
Rebecca bit down hard, her face still stinging from the slaps, seething with rage but forcing herself to stay calm: “She’s just out for a bit. It’s not a big deal.”
Hunter sighed: “But she’s not answering her phone, and she’s pregnant. She shouldn’t be running around.”
The two men who used to love her most were now both defending Jessica.
Rebecca’s jealousy reached its peak as she snarled: “This is just her playing games! All women do this–playing hard to get. What’s the big deal?”
