Peter was filled with heartache.
“Yvonne, you’ve disappointed me so much…”
The car sped up the mountain and soon arrived at the Kingsley Family’s cemetery.
Among the rows of graves stood an empty one.
Yvonne’s eyes widened as she sensed what was coming. She shook her head desperately and pleaded, “Peter, I was wrong. I truly know I was wrong.”
“I shouldn’t have falsely accused Tessa of bullying–me, shouldn’t have spoken ill of her in front of you and definitely shouldn’t have let you bury her alive.”
“But I did all this because I loved you so much!”
Peter’s face remained cold as he pushed her into the dark, sunless grave.
Yvonne broke down in tears, screaming,
“No.”
“Peter… don’t do this to me.”
Before marrying Charles, I worried the Xavier family might look down on me. After all, I was an orphan and my relationship with the Kingsley Family had always been ambiguous.
To my surprise, the Xavier family was incredibly kind.
Charles’s mother even remarked the first time she saw me, “So you’re the little girl who helped
Charles back then.”
I was confused until Charles blushed and told me, “When I was a child, I was thin and weak and often bullied by others. Then a brave young girl suddenly appeared and chased all the troublemakers away.”
Suddenly, it all came back.
My parents died when I was very young and I grew up in an orphanage. To make ends meet, picked up trash and handed out flyers.
One day, when I saw a rich kid being bullied, I rushed out and drove away his tormentors. Then asked him for five dollars and said, “From now on, if anyone causes you trouble, come find me for help. But it’s five dollars per incident and ten dollars if there’s more than one person.”
Later, the kid transferred schools and my steady income disappeared.
But I never expected that the boy I had protected back then was actually Charles!
“Charles, do you like me?” I asked.
He blushed and turned away shyly.
“Yes. I’ve liked you for a long time.”
I was surprised. In my previous life, I had met Charles a few times, but he had never shown any signs of liking me.
“Why didn’t you say anything before?”
Charles gave an awkward smile.

“Unfortunately, when I found you later, I realized you seemed to have fallen for Peter.”
“Peter is my best friend. How could I compete with him for you?”
So that was why.
The next moment, Charles pulled me into a tight embrace.
‘Thankfully, in the end, you’re still mine…”
Feeling the warmth of his embrace, I felt an overwhelming peace.
Thankfully, I didn’t repeat the tragedies of my previous life.
In the days after our marriage, Charles treated me well.
He took me all over the country to sightsee and under the influence of my fate, the Xavier Family’s company, once on the brink of bankruptcy, miraculously turned around.
Within just a few days, they secured several major projects.
My mother–in–law excitedly held my hand and said, “Tessa, you truly are a blessing for our family!”
The news about Peter came three days later. The Kingsley Family had gone bankrupt.
Peter was surrounded by a group of shareholders, viciously humiliated at the company.
When Charles and I arrived, Peter was being held down on the ground. The shareholders stomping on his face and shouting, “Pay back the money! Pay back the money!”
