Chapter43
Epilogue
Loanne
Everywhere in the house was filled with brown boxes. Different sizes due to what was inside of each
box. I stood in the middle of the house and stared around.
It was much different than usual. More dark than bright and for that, I knew it was because of the moods everyone was releasing into the air.
Xavier, Jayden, Lily and some of his pack mates were here to help me pack up Promise’s belongings. Half of these stuff were going to be donated to a charity that Promise loves. While some of the others, I will keep it. For sure I knew that the others were going to keep some of the stuff and I didn’t mind.
“Who knew you stored so much stuff Promise.” I said jokingly before I resumed back to taping some of the boxes shut.
While I was to focused in my work, I did not hear the tiny pattering of footsteps running past me, heading towards the spare bedroom.
“Nathan! Honey where are you!” Lily’s voice suddenly yelled out. I snapped my head up in time to see her running down the stairs. Frantically searching for her son.
“Nathan?” She screamed out once more. I winched at the sound of her voice bouncing off the empty
walls.
“What’s wrong?” I asked her as I sat perfectly still watching her carefully.
“I can’t find Nathan. He was with me one moment then he just disappeared!” She exclaimed to me as she walked around the place.
“I did notice someone running over there.” I said as I stood up and walked over to where I had a feeling Nathan was at.
But Lily stopped me in my tracks and I turned my head to question her what was the problem when she suddenly motioned for me to be quiet. Confused I did as I was told and tried to hear what she was hearing.
“Why don’t you come out and play with me? Do you not want to play with me anymore? Was I a bad boy?” Nathan’s tiny voice spoke.
‘My eyebrows shot up towards the ceiling. Who in the world was he talking too? I looked at Lily to

see that she was equally as confused and worried.
We moved slowly towards the room that he was in and we continued to hear his conversation. “Okay, I will promise you that I will be a good boy. Will that make mommy and daddy not cry anymore?” Nathan questioned.
That was when Lily had enough I guess. She ran past me and barged into the room. Slamming the door hard and loud. I jumped back in shock from the sound and casually made my way into the room to see that there was no one in here. It was just Nathan, Lily and I.
The closet door was open and there was no sign that someone was in here with him. Turning my attention back to Nathan I felt extremely bad when I watched Lily scold him.
“Nathan now tell me… Who were you talking too?” Lily demanded from him as she sat down in front
of him.
He stared at Lily then at me before looking at the ground. “Tell me now young man!” Lily said. I could see Nathan slightly shake from his mother’s questioning tone, so I decided to speak up in hopes that it might calm him down to the point where he could tell us.
“Dear.. you are not in trouble. We just want to know who you were talking too in here. We heard
your conversation in the hallway.” I asked softly as I made my way slowly over to him.
He looked up at me and slightly opened his mouth. “Promise?” He said quietly, pointing out his pinky finger.
I smiled and nodded my head as I wrapped my own pinky finger around his. “I promise, so please
tell your mom and I.” I said before making myself comfortable in the floor.
“It was auntie…” He said as he slightly moved his body side to side with his tiny hands behind me.
I scrunched my face in confusion. “Wha–what do you mean?” Lily asked him, her tone more softer
than before.
“Auntie… the one who died.” Nathan said calmly.
Lily and I were to in shock, Nathan though did not notice and he continued to tell us about Promise.
“I saw her when we went to go follow Uncle Xavier to that place with all the stone. She was standing
far away, wearing all white. She looked beautiful but she was not smiling. She looked sad mommy.”
Nathan said.
I unfroze and smiled in a forced way. “You saw her?” I asked him as I tried to force my tears to go
‘back.

He nodded his head and Lily grabbed his arms causing him to look at her. “What did Auntie Promise say to you in here?” She said her voice cracking at the end.
“She told me to be a good boy for mommy and daddy. To make mommy and daddy happy so mommy and daddy won’t cry about her.” He said his eyes tearing up.
“Auntie told me that I have to tell uncle Xavier to move on and for Auntie Lolo (Loanne) to live life normally.” He said bawling his eyes out..
I lowered my head and let out a breathy sigh as I knew for sure she was here with us.
After that whole incident was over with, I was left alone in the house that I had inhabited with
Promise over the last few weeks.
It was hard to say goodbye to Lily and Nathan. I knew for sure that I would not see them at all seeing as I still can’t stand the presence of Douche bag #1 and Douche bag #2. It did bring me some
satisfaction that they were beat up about what they had done to her. That they are going to suffer for a long time knowing they could not mend things with Promise. But on the other side, I felt sorry for
them. They lived with guilt when she disappeared and when she finally appeared, they thought that
she would stay with them and fix what little of the relationship that they had shared. But now that
she is gone, for them they truly lost a part of themselves.
I will admit though, my satisfaction that they are going to suffer for a long time wins over me
feeling sorry for themselves. Sorry but not sorry.
Getting out of my thoughts, I looked around the now empty house. I can visualize the very first day
that Issac and Promise brought this house. How she was jumping up in down in joy with Issac just
looking at her with so much love and there was me, standing in the far corner trying not to throw up
from the way he looked at her.
Then it moved to when we both got punished for pranking Issac that in the end we had to beat him
up to stop his torture. I chuckled at the memories that flowed through me as I stood here until it
came to one.
The very last day I had with her in this house. The day were we were joking and how much she was
laughing to the point where her face was red like a tomato. All of the happy feelings were gone, all
that was left was sadness.
“Promise… this is really goodbye?” I asked softly to no one.
Closing my eyes I clenched the house keys tightly in my hand as I tried to not cry, when all of a sudden I felt a light breathy touch go over my shoulder. I tensed up but relaxed as this touch felt

familiar.
I did not dare turn around to see who it was, but when the familiar scent blanketed around me. That
was when I knew who it was.
“It’s never a goodbye Loanne.” A soft wind like voice said to me.
And like how it came out of nowhere, it went away as quick. Though the scent was still surrounding me, I closed my eyes and allowed the tears to come out.
You’re right, it’s never a goodbye between us Promise. I thought as I opened my eyes and began to head out, one arm holding a boxful of memories, I turned and gave one last look at the house before shutting the door with a big smile on my tear stained face.
I was no longer alone.
