Chapter 3
The pack house was gilded and grand, as magnificent as a royal palace–yet it was deathly silent inside, as though all that
brilliance was meant to mask decay.
The omega maids kept their eyes down, their faces pale with fear and pity. They looked at me like I was a lamb being led
to slaughter.
Only Luna Daisy gripped my hands with tear–filled eyes and feverish enthusiasm.
“Welcome,” she rasped, her voice hoarse but trembling with excitement. “The entire pack has been thrown into chaos. But
you… you stepped forward to become Finn’s Luna.”
“You’re a loyal, brave daughter of the wolves. As long as you complete the mating tonight, you’ll be the next Luna–the queen of the Bloodmoon Pack. The lands, the power, the legacy–it’ll all be yours.”
She spoke with such passion, but in her eyes lurked a shadow. Something sharp. Something dark.
I forced a polite smile, but inside, I scoffed.
Eight Lunas. Not one survived their mating night.
Her promises tasted like honey laced with poison–sweet words masking a ritual sacrifice.
I nodded perfunctorily, and the maids led me to Finn’s chambers.
As the door shut behind me, the hallway went utterly silent.
Without hesitation, I tore off the bridal veil and turned to search the room.
Oddly, although I had never set foot in this place before, everything felt… familiar. As if some buried memory was slowly clawing its way back to the surface.
A chill crept up my spine, sweat dampening my back.
And in the depths of my mind, a voice whispered louder and louder-
Alina’s death. The others, too. My mother… she’s involved. She has to be.
Suddenly, voices murmured just beyond the door. Low.
“How long do you think she’ll last?”
“Two hours, tops She’s built stronger than Alina, but she won’t last much longer.”
“Such a pity Her sister kept screaming her name before she died. Now, they’ll be reunited–how poetic.”
“…Alina” The name struck me like a blade
Pain tore through my chest. It felt like claws were shredding my heart, and blood was dripping into my thoughts
I turned, ready to storm out and demand answers But the door slammed shut in my face–bke a beast locking its prey in a

cage.
The room went dark. Only a small lamp by the bed remained lit, flickering in the shadows like bait… drawing the victim
closer.
I reached down and pulled the knife hidden in my thigh strap. My palm was slick with cold sweat.
Then–his voice.
“Harper.”
I spun around.
Finn stood behind me, silent as the grave. A predator cloaked in night.
I gasped.
No wonder they called him à demon.
The years he’d spent bedridden hadn’t weakened him. On the contrary, his body was harder, more sculpted. His every movement radiated strength and menace. His eyes–jet black and bottomless–could steal a soul. Even among the
fiercest wolves, no she–wolf dared get near him.
He looked at me and smiled. But that smile–it was sugar–coated venom.
“Don’t be afraid,” he said softly. “I’m not a monster, I won’t harm you.”
His voice was low, smooth. But every word sent a chill down my spine.
“I don’t understand it either… why every Luna who marries me ends up taking her own life on our wedding night.”
“But you came, Harper. You chose to become my Luna.”
you can survive tonight… I’ll be yours. For life. For eternity.”
He stepped closer.
His footsteps were light–but they carried the weight of a beast poised to strike.
His face came closer. And closer. Every step made my heartbeat pound louder, harder.
Then suddenly–it all clicked
A memory snapped into place, sharp and undeniable
I shoved him away, turned, and slammed both fists against the door
Screaming
“Let me out!”
“I know the truth! I know why the Lunas died!”
