Chapter 8
After leaving home, I returned to the place where I had grown up. I ran into many familiar
faces. .
None of them recognized me as the young stray werewolf who once survived by scavenging,
alone and unwanted.
All they knew was that I came from a major pack and that I was an excellent trainer.
Using the allowance my father once gave me, I built a cub training center in this pack.
Here, the cubs‘ bright smiles and the warmth and sincerity of the pack members were contagious.
Their energy made me feel like I truly belonged. For the first time, I wanted to settle down in one place.
A week after I arrived, I sent Drew a message and ended things with him.
After that, I stopped checking any messages from anyone.
Every day, I threw myself into training with the cubs. Before long, I had completely moved on from the Silvermist Pack, including my parents, Jake, and even Drew.
That’s when I realized, even without them, there were still people in this world who loved me.
I didn’t need to beg for scraps of affection.
Here, I met my fated mate, Peter.
The moment I saw him, the wolf inside me stirred for him.
We hadn’t known each other long, but we clicked instantly. We got along effortlessly.
I spent three happy years here. I truly believed I would stay away from the Silvermist Pack forever, never seeing anyone from my past again.
However, eventually, I had to leave.
Peter’s parents had come to find us, and that’s when I found out he was the Alpha of the Silvermist Pack
He had planned a grand marking ceremony for me back at the Silvermist Pack.
Originally, I hadn’t intended to visit my old home. I didn’t want to see Drew ever again.
But when I switched on my phone, it was flooded with messages.
The most recent one was from Drew’s mother, Carmen.

She told me that during a pack battle, Drew’s wolf had suffered a grave injury. He had lost the ability to shift.
She begged me to go see him just once.
I sat in shock for a long time. It wasn’t until Peter asked me what was wrong that I snapped out of it.
Out of both obligation and compassion, I knew I had to go back.
When I returned to the Silver Moon Pack, the first thing I did was contact Carmen.
She brought me to the healer’s cabin to see Drew.
Ever since I left, he had never stopped searching for me.
When he couldn’t find me anywhere in the Silver Moon Pack, Drew volunteered for distant missions in hopes of tracking me down.
During one fierce battle, he was stabbed in the abdomen by a silver dagger. The silver poison spread through his body. By the time the patrol team brought him back, he had permanently lost his ability to shift.
When Drew saw me, the dullness in his eyes faded away and lit up with new hope.
He struggled to sit up. The needle in his arm swelled up under the strain.
Carmen rushed to call the healer, who made him drink a potion.
Drew didn’t take his eyes off me for even a second.
I knew what he wanted to ask. Was I going to leave again?
With Carmen silently pleading beside him, I gently shook my head.
“If you have something to say, wait until you’re better.”
Drew nodded obediently. His face lit up with joy.
