Chapter 10
In the luxury hotel suite, my father pulled out the DNA test report Jack had commissioned from a standard domestic testing facility.
The report clearly showed a 99.99% probability of me being the biological daughter of the Crawford
parents.
“Jack,” my father’s expression was frighteningly dark, “explain this.”
Jack’s Adam’s apple bobbed nervously. “Dad, I just… didn’t want to get your hopes up prematurely. I planned to take Riley to the London laboratory for final confirmation…”
“Is that why you told me there was no news about my daughter?”
‘Dad, Mom… I was being overly cautious. I was wrong! But you just returned to the country–how did you get this information?”
‘I gave it to them, of course!” I interrupted innocently. “If I hadn’t contacted Mom and Dad through the Gene Laboratory in London…”
I deliberately hesitated, “I wouldn’t have known that my brother was hiding such important reports rom you all this time!”
ack’s face transformed instantly. “How do you know about Gene?”
blinked, improvising: “During sophomore year, I attended an international biology summer camp
hat toured Gene.”
Later, a professor mentioned that Gene had connections to the Crawford family. I figured it was
vorth a shot!”
ack’s face turned ashen with rage.
He must have been cursing himself for underestimating me,
After all, he’d done the DNA testing, but I was just an eighteen–year–old girl. He hadn’t revealed any
of his ambitions.
How could I possibly be so calculating?

They Stule My Identity. I stole theu Future
Chapter 10
In my previous life, stranded in London without money and blocked by Jack at every turn, I couldn’t
contact anyone at Gene Laboratory.
In this life, the black card he gave me became the knife I turned against him.
I used that money to have Dr. Harrison contact Professor Smith at Gene, explaining the situation and
asking them to connect me with my long–emigrated parents.
Otherwise, how could they have responded so quickly the day my exam results were announced?
I turned to my parents: “Jack wouldn’t let me contact you, so I had to find another way.”
“Mom, Dad, you’re not angry with me, are you?”
My mother covered her face, weeping. “My daughter, how could we be angry? We’re so proud that
you even became valedictorian!”
“I actually love academics too, but Jack kept trying to prevent me from taking the exams. I had to
take them in secret-”
“WHAT?” My father thundered. “Didn’t I explicitly say that if we found her, she should first complete
her exams in peace, regardless of her results? Her years of hard work deserved recognition! Did you completely ignore my instructions?”
Jack’s face turned ghostly white. “Dad, I was concerned-”
‘Concerned about what?” My father’s fingers trembled with rage. “Worried that Riley would
perform too well and ruin your plans?”
I added timely: “Jack said… Crawford children don’t need to participate in such ‘lower–class selection
processes‘…”
‘Bullshit!” My father exploded. “Your grandfather and I both took these exams. It’s one of the most precious memories for any American, something money can’t buy.”
He grabbed my hand. “Come on, let’s go talk to those reporters right now. Let everyone see the caliber of the Crawford heiress!”
My father was shrewd–my revelations had clearly exposed Jack’s predatory ambitions.
He immediately called his lawyer: “Freeze all of Jack’s authorizations. Immediately.“
They stole My Identity. I stole Their Future
Chapter 10
As we left, I gave one last look at Jack, who had collapsed into a chair.
“By the way, Jack, those people you arranged to help Valerie cheat on her exams…” I waved my
phone. “They’ve just been taken in by the Academic Integrity Board.”
In this lifetime, I’ll make you regret everything you took from me–with interest!
