Chapter 33
“I’m sorry for waking you so late, my King. They suddenly appeared and requested to see the King of Onyx, I had no choice. They were making a fuss at the gates. Little brats!” Demetrius muttered as he walked.
Charming blinked as he was led hurriedly through the corridors. This wasn’t right. He had fallen asleep after talking with Kamilla and when this young chap burst into the chambers to wake him up, Kamilla wasn’t there. Kamilla wasn’t there, but Charming still was.
He stared in confusion at his hands as he walked. Why hadn’t Viktor woken up? What was going on? Charming slowed to a stop, frowning in thought. Viktor should have woken up.
Demetrius walked on a bit more, quickly stopping when he realized his King was no longer behind him. He glanced back in confusion. “They’re in your meeting room, Viktor.” He pointed to the left. “Let’s go.”
“Ah. Yes… of course,” said Charming. Damn and blast. He’d have to carry out Viktor’s duties in his stead. He glanced down at his attire. Well, at least he’d had the chance to dress like a king. It wouldn’t do Viktor any good to look like a sleep–deprived barbarian before his subjects.
They reached a pair of black and gold doors and Demetrius took hold of the handles and opened the doors wide.
Charming walked in slowly, looking cautiously about him. The room was empty save for two people who stood at his entrance. Well, two Vampires.
Charming looked at them. A man and a woman. Young and beautiful.
They bowed as he approached them.
“Viktor, King of Onyx,” said the man. “Forgive us for knocking on your doors so late at night. The situation is
urgent.”
Charming stared at them for a moment. Oh! That was right, he had to make some sort of King–like response, didn’t he? That was easy, right?
He lifted his chin. “My wise and faithful subject,” announced Charming. “Fear not! I shan’t take off your heads for
this treason!”
The man and woman blinked in unison. Demetrius leaned over to take a look at his King’s face.
“Uh… Viktor?” he called quietly. Charming turned his head a millimeter towards him. “Are you perhaps still very sleepy?” asked Demetrius.
Charming shook his head. “I have all my wits about me, my good man. Worry not.” Demetrius blinked, but his King was too preoccupied to notice. Charming waved an arm at the couple. “Now then, what can I do for you this late night?”
The couple glanced at each other, the woman shyly inching towards the man.
“The two of us, my King,” said the man. “We want to get married!”

Charming nodded, waiting for the man to continue, but he said nothing more, Charming held his arms behind bús back. “Go on. I’m listening.”
The young man blinked, “Uhm… that’s it.”
It was Charming’s turn to blink. “Oh, Okay, then. Well, Congratulations on your marriage!”
When both the man and woman’s eyes widened, Charming figured he might be missing something
Damn. Was there something special about Vampire weddings? Did they perhaps not use Vicars? Was that it? They wanted Viktor to be their Vicar and bless the wedding? How delightful!
“Oh, I see!” said Charming with a laugh. The couple looked at each other and nodded.
“Yes, my King. That’s the probl-”
“Of course I’ll bless your wedding!” announced Charming.
“What?!” asked Demetrius,
The couple looked too stunned to say anything at all. Charming glanced at Demetrius in question. “What is it? Were you looking to be their Vicar then? I’m afraid you’ll have to put aside those dreams, my good man. They’ve asked me specifically to grant them the honor and as you know, I am a good King who cannot say no to the wishes
of my people.”
Charming smiled, pleased with himself. Oh, Viktor would be so delighted when he woke up and discovered how wonderfully Charming had carried out his duties!
