Chapter 29
Kamilla counted to fifty. Biting painfully on her bottom lip, she closed her eyes and counted back to zero.
She would stay calm. She would not lose it. She would not rip Viktor’s face off!
He’d left the room and left her hovering in the air like a freaking hoverboard, but she would not lose her temper!
The doors swung open and Viktor strode in, Damon behind him.
He immediately walked over to Kamilla. “Good, you’re still here.”
Kamilla shot a lethal glare at him. “Where the hell would I go?! Let me down from here right now before I shove a
freaking stake through your neck!”
Viktor crossed his arms. “How charming. I must inform you that that wouldn’t kill me, it’s the heart you should
aim for. Now enough of this chit–chat. Tell Damon what you told me.”
Kamilla shot a hand out to grab his collar and growled when Viktor ducked out of the way.
“Get over here! Let me rip your perfect little face to shreds!” she growled.
He had the audacity to laugh. Laugh!
“Just a minute now, Kamilla,” said Viktor, not bothering to hide his wicked grin. “Just tell Damon what you told me and this will all be over.”
Clenching her teeth, Kamilla straightened her body and rested her hands above her stomach, forcing herself to
relax.
With a gentle exhale, she eased all tension from her body and stared blankly at the ceiling. The moment she got down, she would rip Viktor’s hair out one strand at a time.
“Are you now rational?” Viktor asked. Kamilla’s teeth clenched again when she heard the evil glee in his tone. Oh, she’d rip his hair out for sure.
Struggling to maintain her calm, she gave a simple nod.
Damon cleared his throat. “Are you two done?”
Kamilla blinked blankly at the ceiling. “Ask away, Demon.”
There was a pause after her deliberate mispronunciation of his name during which Damon rubbed his temples in Can effort to keep his own wits about him.
“Okay, so what happened again?” asked Damon.
Kamilla gave a tiny shrug. “Well, Demon, I was about to begin training with the guys when I appeared before the woman and she bewitched me.”

He blinked at her dull tone. “Yeah, I’m gonna need more details.”
“Yeah, Kamilla, stop slacking,” said Viktor, pleasantly stroking her flowing hair.
Kamilla’s flat hands turned into fists. That blood–sucker! That’s it. It was time to murder him.
“What happened was,” she told Damon. “I suddenly appeared before the sorceress called Rena and she cast some kind of spell on me. She said my presence makes Viktor stronger so she was trying to make me tell her how I do it. She wanted to know what Viktor’s weaknesses were. Those were the questions she asked and I actually wanted to tell her, cause of the spell, but I suddenly snapped out of it and actually hated the sight of her right after that. Then I disappeared again and reappeared at the forest exit. Are we done here?”
The two men were silent.
Damon crossed his arms and looked at Viktor with a serious expression. “She… she fought off Rena?”
Viktor nodded. “That’s exactly what shocked me. My little bride here seems to be powerful enough to fight off a sorceress who’s a hundred and seventy–eight years older than her. Fucking incredible.”
“Can I come down now?!” demanded Kamilla.
“Come to think of it,” said Viktor, ignoring Kamilla. “If Rena was trying to find out if I have a weakness, she’s with someone. The witches never do anything for themselves, someone’s with her. She couldn’t come at me directly because I’d obviously break her in two, so she tries to corner my half–human soulmate.”
Damon nodded. “And now she realizes that Kamilla could very well be as powerful as you. Definitely a kick to
Rena’s pride. She won’t stop now. She’ll try again.”
Viktor smiled a cold smile. “When she does… we’ll be ready for her.”
Kamilla bit her lip, staring at the ceiling, counting from zero to a hundred and back until Damon had left the
room.
She was practically vibrating with anger and if that miserable bond between her and Viktor was real, she knew he
felt it.
The door closed and Viktor turned to her with a smile any cunning goblin would be proud of.
“Now then, my sweet-”
“Let me down, Viktor,” Kamilla said through gritted teeth.
Viktor back away from her as he started to slowly lower her body to the sofa. He bit back his grin as she lowered, his feet ready to make a run for it.
