Only Half Dead
Chapter 26
“Are you happy?”
The sarcastic tone jerked Kamilla awake, her eyes instantly opening wide even if they took seconds to focus.

And when they focused, she saw nothing past Viktor’s naked chest as he sat up in the bed beside her. She blinked at it, with its hard dips and curves.
My, my, thought Kamilla.
Her gaze rose to meet his and the scowl on his handsome face was so endearing in its annoyance, she couldn’t help but grin.
His dark blue eyes narrowed on her. “Up! Don’t you grin at me after your shameful spectacle last night! The queen of Onyx as drunk as a sailor.”
Kamilla rolled her eyes and pushed herself into a sitting position. “I wasn’t drunk…”
“You were. Luckily, you won’t suffer from a hangover. Isn’t your oh–so–horrific Vampire half just so convenient at times like this?”
Viktor watched as she silently yawned and stretched, that damn grin still not leaving her face. He scowled harder. She had the gall to grin? After what she did to him last night?!
Viktor’s jaw clenched. Did Kamilla think it was fun for him to have her body rub and press against him all damn night? Did she think she could get away with torturing him like that?! Viktor had nearly run mad, his self–control stretched to its thinnest, his desire taking over his entire body.
He’d nearly died last night.
Kamilla sighed happily, slowly turning to face Viktor’s glare as lightning flashed through the sky, making his face look sharper and even more beautiful. His jaw was taut with tension and she cheerfully rubbed her fingers there.
“Now, now, King of Onyx. It won’t do you any good to shatter your teeth from clenching, will it?” she asked him.
Viktor caught her hand, pulling it away from his chin before he became unable to stop himself from devouring her right where she sat.
“You think it’s funny, Kamilla? Should I show you something funny?”
Kamilla was about to enthusiastically nod but stopped herself when his mouth curved in a smile as scary as it was
sexy.
She gulped.
The rain was pouring in sheets.

At this point, Kamilla was certain there was some giant in the sky just pouring endless buckets of water over Onyx. And right onto her head.
She wiped a hand over drenched her face for the hundredth time, trying to see through the rain.
Bloody Viktor! How could he send her out into the rain?!
What? Vampire training? Hah! Her foot!
Kamilla had never heard a more pathetic excuse in her life!
Why would she need to perfect her powers in the pouring rain?!
She huffed, keeping her cloaked head low as the Legion walked carelessly about her. Her “trainers” apparently weren’t bothered by the rain.
Kamilla looked around the forest and shuffled over to a tree, but got little protection from the rain.
“When can we go back?!” she yelled over the sound of thunder.
Vlad crouched nearby just turned away, ignoring her.
Seth looked over from where he and Xavier were making some kind of energy ball.
“In a little while, my Queen,” he said with a smile. “We’ll teach you the basics for today and see you safely home.”
Kamilla made a face. “Uhm, if you don’t teach much and we bum around at a nearby bar, I promise not to tell Viktor!!” she yelled back.
Syre appeared by her side with a chuckle. “He’d know, my Queen,” he said, his black hair slicked back from the rain. “Also, don’t stand under a tree during a storm.”
Kamilla was about to answer when he turned and disappeared. Lightning lit up the forest again and Kamilla quickly darted over to where Seth and Xavier were. The minute she reached them, Seth turned to her, the ball of energy in his hand.
“Here. This will help get you through the training.”
Kamilla eyed it skeptically. “What is that?”
He simply tossed it at her chest and Kamilla yelped when it disappeared into her.
“What the hell!” she gasped, staring at her chest.
Why had he just thrown a ball of electricity at her?! When she looked back up to glare at Seth, she blinked at the
empty space.
Kamilla turned around in circles, seeing nothing but rain and trees. She huffed in disbelief. No way. Had she just teleported?! This part of the forest had thicker, darker trees and Kamilla felt herself blend in, her black cloak hiding her.

Until she heard it.
The crackle of a fire. Kamilla’s cloaked head inched to the side, following the sound. A fire? In this storm? She spun around with a frown and froze when her eyes landed on it.
A whole fire.
On the forest floor, under the damn rain.
Kamilla blinked at the fire and then at the thing next to it. A rock? At first nothing more than a black huddle, she didn’t stare for long. But when it shifted and rose, Kamilla took a whole step back.
“O–okay, Viktor,” she whispered, hoping he’d somehow hear her. “I’m ready to leave now.” The dark figure continued to rise. “Please…”
Kamilla stared wide–eyed as it turned around and the darkness turned into a cloak that swept open, revealing a beautiful rosy face.
Kamilla stared at the woman. Had she just come out of a rock?
“Hello,” said the woman with an enchanting smile. “You must be Kamilla.”
