Kamilla rolled over in her bed with a groan, her eyes squeezed shut against the morning light.
Light. That meant mum had already opened her curtains. That meant it was time to
get
and go to class.
Drawing up all her strength, Kamilla swung a leg over the side of the bed, feeling for the floor with her toes.
Once the soft rug tickled her toes, she planted her foot down and slowly lowered the other until she was sitting with her head against the pillow.
She looked like a mannequin rising from the bed, but this was the maximum amount of energy Kamilla could summon at the moment. With a groan, she pushed herself up until she was sitting upright, her eyes still glued shut from sleep.
A sigh deflated her lungs. This was the first time she’d slept without being bombarded with dreams of Witcher’s and Viktor. They’d been there, but not as much as other nights.
That must be a good sign, thought Kamilla, scratching her chin. Today would be a good day. She’d have a good breakfast, be early for all her classes, be super hydrated all day and look bloody cute!
Kamilla stood up and sleepily made her way to the door. She also wouldn’t let herself think about Vik-
“Ugn!” she groaned, smacking herself face first into the door.
The door? Kamilla frowned, her nose twitching as she sniffed. Her door smelt rather un–doorlike. Moving her face from side to side, she felt it with the tip of her nose. Kamilla paused. Doors didn’t have what felt awfully similar to pecs, did they? Neither were doors supposed to have such a distinct scent of crisp
masculinity. This smelled like…

Her heart clenching with strong suspicion, Kamilla darted away and began to rub her eyes heartily. She could recognize Viktor’s scent amongst ten thousand others! He was probably looking at her with that scowl on his-
Kamilla blinked her eyes open, trying to adjust to the light. With a deflating heart, she looked around at the empty room. Frowning, she looked behind her and spun around in a circle. Nothing.
For a silent moment, Kamilla just looked at her closed door.
“I’m going crazy,” she murmured, slowly approaching the door.
She walked barefoot down the hallway, her frown deepening when she heard the sound of voices coming from the kitchen.
When she walked into the room, she thought she’d faint from the sight.
“Ahahahaha!” laughed her mother, pink–cheeked with delight as she poured more coffee for Xavier. “That’s hilarious, oh, my word!”
Kamilla blinked in disbelief.
“It was the best day of her life,” said Ethan. “To meet such a beautiful Vampire and go on a date with him.”
Zen reached for two thick sandwiches, placing one on Syre’s plate and the other on his. “Of course Vlad wiped her memory afterwards though.”
Adelaide gasped. “Oh, no. Poor lass would have been delighted to keep such a wonderful memory.”
“And she would have told all her friends and started some trouble,” said Syre with a grin. “Next thing we know, we’ve got a whole line of human for dates. The human males would hate it.”
Kamilla watched, open mouthed as her mom nodded with a laugh.
Silently, Kamilla glanced back at her room. Had she really been imagining it or had Viktor been in there?
“Oh, Kamilla!”

Chapter 158
“Huh?” said Kamilla, turning back around.
The guys waved with varying kinds of greetings.
Kamilla scratched her chin, regarding them suspiciously. “What’s going on here? And mum, what did I say about allowing strangers into your house an I’m not around?”
Syre gasped and held his chest. “Strangers? I’m hurt!”
“Me too,” said Ethan with an elaborate sweep of his dark, wavy hair.
Kamilla gave them a look. “You guys aren’t answering my question. Also…” She glanced back at her room. “Did… Viktor come with you?*
Xavier shook his head. “No, he didn’t. We le
him attending to Kingdom duties with Seth and Damon.”
“Stop questioning these poor dears and
for breakfast,” said Adelaide, stirring waffle batter.
Kamilla pursed her lips. “Are you guys here to guard me? Or did Damon send you again?”
Ethan raised his brows. “No, we’re on duty. We been on duty.”
“And the duty is?” asked Kamilla, puzzled.
“Watching you,” responded Ethan, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “We have been since you left the castle.” He looked at his brothers. “Didn’t they tell you that the other day?”
With narrowed eyes, Kamilla looked at Syre and Zen who had shrunk in their seats. “Nope,” she muttered. “They said they were sent on that one day! You guys have been stalking me for the past two weeks?”
