Chapter 139
“You were nothing but a kid but you tore that little human girl to pieces, ripped her apart like tasty lobster!”
“Don’t you dare listen, Viktor!” Charming whispered fiercely. “It was an accident! You didn’t want to hurt Emma. You loved her! You’re not a monster! Kamilla… help him. 1…”
Rogan raised a brow. “What’s that? What are you whispering?”
Kamilla was frozen on the spot, staring up into Viktor’s eyes, witnessing the battle that was raging within him. The dark blue that was Viktor was covering most of his iris now. Kamilla painfully swallowed her tears. Charming was losing the battle. Rogan was getting to Viktor.
She spun on him and glared with green fire in her eyes. “Who are you to talk?!” Kamilla demanded. “If Viktor did the Killing and Emma was killed, where do you fit in? How dare you judge anyone else when you’ve killed countless people over this bullshit-”
“I know what I am!” Rogan roared. “I never deluded myself
thinking I was a fucking saint.”
“It seems you did!” Kamilla told him, breathlessly. “Rena said you treat her like the love of your life. Is that not a claim to love? And a claim to love one whom you’ve kept practically chained up like a damn slave! She loathes you, Rogan and because you seem to have such a big head about it, I’m going to free Rena from your spell just to spite you!”
Rogan threw his head back and laughed. “What? Oh, God, you’re hilarious.” Shaking his head, Rogan pointed a hand towards where Rena lay and with a purple energy glowing in his palm, lifted her and drew her slowly across to them. “I might beat you to that, Kamilla,” he murmured, his face void of expression now. “I do love Rena. And because I love her, I’ll free her.”
Rena hovered before Rogan now and with a brush of his hand over her peaceful face, her lowered her onto her feet and woke her.
Kamilla stared in terror at the dagger in Rogan’s hand, afraid of what he would do. She took a step forward, but Viktor’s hand clamped around her wrist. She looked back at him and saw his gaze focused on Rogan, his eyes a darker blue than she’d ever seen. Kamilla’s heart sunk. Where was Charming?
“Now this,” said Rogan twirling his dagger as Rena slowly blinked to clear her blurry vision. “This is what’s going to free our Rena.”
Her vision and confusion cleared, Rena looked around at them, her face taut with fear. When she saw Kamilla and Viktor, Rena sunk weakly to the floor, turning her fearful gaze to Rogan. “R–Rogan…” she whispered. “…please don’t…”
Kamilla gritted her teeth. “Don’t you dare touch her with that!” She looked at Viktor. “Viktor, Rena never betrayed us! It was Sasha! She told him about Charming! That cow, where is she?!”
Despite her words, Viktor’s restraint didn’t ease from Kamilla’s wrist
“Don’t worry, Rena,” Rogan murmured, looking gently down at Rena. I made this blade a century ago for a day like today. It’s enchanted to break a bond like ours, little love. When it touches your blood, you’ll be free from the bond. Are you ready, Rena?”
Rena was trembling in fear as she stared up at the dagger. “I’ll die…”
Rogan blinked. “Well… of course. That’s what being free from me is. Death.”
Kamilla’s heart gave a lurch. “No. No! Rogan, don’t! I swear I’ll make you pay if you hurt her! Why don’t you just stop?! Nobody has to die because of your grudge!”
Rogan’s mouth curved and he let out another laugh before looking at Kamilla and letting his smile slip away to be replaced by a dark stare. Looking at her, Rogan raised his arm, dagger sharp and pointed at Rena’s chest.
With a gasp, Kamilla ripped her arm away from Viktor and dove forward just as Rogan’s dagger sliced down.
Viktor’s heart slammed with panic. “Kamilla!”
