I fell asleep without realizing it and had a dream.
My career was just taking off. A movie Claire had gotten me a role in was a huge hit. Even though I was just a supporting character, my role was very well–received.
Riding the wave of popularity, she booked me for variety shows and commercials. At a dinner with investors,
I ran into an old acquaintance–Director Yang.
He wasn’t a director anymore; he was a producer and had changed his name.
That day, I was passing by when I saw a young girl run out of his private room, her clothes in disarray. I shiel- ded her behind me, held up my phone to film him, and the girl told me there was another girl still inside.
I got them both out.
He knew Clark was behind me, so he didn’t dare to touch me.
I knew this might cause trouble for Clark. If he didn’t step in, I could be in big trouble. But at that moment, I didn’t have time to think.
If I hadn’t seen it, I couldn’t do anything. But to see it and do nothing? I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.

Chapter 2
I never heard from those two girls again. They both left the industry.
Later, I told Clark about it. I thought he might scold me, but he just laughed and said I was getting feistier.
He only told me that next time I did something like that, not to do it alone. Because even a cornered dog wil
bite.
I was scared, I admit. But there was also a defiant strength growing inside me.
And that strength all came from Clark.
When I first started out, I had no fame, no status; and not many people knew about my relationship with Clark. So, I was often bullied on set. I didn’t want to cause trouble, thinking a few harsh words wouldn’t kil
- me.
Then one time, Clark came to visit the set and overheard. He called the crew member who was picking or
me over and told me to curse him back.
At first, I couldn’t do it. He started it for me, and I followed his lead, getting more and more into it until Clark had to drag me away.
That day, he had watched me with a smile.
“You’re just going to swallow your anger and go home and get an ulcer?”
“I can’t be here every day. From now on, if anyone curses you or bullies you, you give it right back. And if you
can’t, you come and tell me.”
“I don’t even make you suffer. Why are you letting yourself be pushed around by others?”
That day, Clark’s face was clear, his eyes sparkling with a brilliant light.
It felt like a tear had been ripped in my heart, and all my love for him came pouring out.
