Because of all the recent news about me, Evelyn came to pick me up from the penthouse herself. I was a
little flattered.
“Clark said you’ve been stalked by anti–fans before. It’s better to be careful.”
Her attitude had changed so much, so fast. I didn’t know what she was up to.
It wasn’t until we were seated at the restaurant and she raised her glass to me that I understood.
“Miss Shaw, I listened to some gossip before and had some misunderstandings about you. I caused you trouble and hurt. Today, I want to sincerely apologize.”
I understood immediately. Cara must have been feeding her lies, giving her a bad first impression of me.
I’m not one to hold a grudge. I raised my glass and clinked it against hers.
Over dinner, I discovered that Evelyn was actually really easy to get along with. She was straightforward and
honest, and we clicked.
I asked her why she had suddenly changed her mind about me. She said she had read all the comments online these past few days, and a lot of them were baseless, clearly manipulated by someone.

Especially the ones that said Clark saw me as her stand–in. Evelyn laughed as she said it.
She, Clark, and the two Song brothers had grown up together. Their parents were close friends, but she and
Clark were just friends.
Their parents had considered arranging a marriage between them. Evelyn didn’t have anyone she liked, anc she was very career–driven. She didn’t care about marriage, but if it helped her career, she was all for it. Sc
she hadn’t said anything.
She had assumed Clark felt the same way, but when she found out he didn’t want the arranged marriage, she
dropped the idea immediately.
Plus, when she had visited Cara on set recently, she saw her throwing her weight around. And many of the crew members, when talking about the recent news, were defending me, saying I was kind and got along
with everyone.
That’s when she realized things might not be as they seemed.
I was touched. Kindness really does beget kindness.
After dinner, Evelyn was about to call a designated driver when we ran into Clark and the Song brothers.
They had just finished dinner, too.
I apologized to Silas Song for the fight at his engagement party. He gave me a cool nod and told me not to worry about it, then left after a few words.
Simon Song invited us to his bar for a drink, but his eyes were glued to Evelyn.
I saw the obvious tension between them and said loudly, “Evelyn has had a little to drink, so maybe we shou-
Id skip it. Let’s get her a driver.”
Simon immediately stepped forward. “I’ll take her.”
I didn’t get involved in their back–and–forth. I just grabbed Clark and left.
On the way back, I asked him, “Is there something going on between them?”
Clark was playing with my hand. “Can’t you focus a little more on me?”
“They’ll figure it out themselves. You don’t need to worry about them.”
I looked at him. “Aren’t you tired of me?”
He froze for a second, then raised the partition in the back seat and pulled me over. That dangerous, upward
lilt was back in his voice. “Are you tired of me?”
“Ivy, I think you’re really looking for a spanking.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, my eyes crinkling with a smile. “Never. I’ll never get tired of you.
He didn’t say anything in the car, just gave a casual laugh.

But I spent the rest of the night crying out in the bedroom.
