Clark picked up the suit jacket he had tossed aside and pulled two matching rings from the left breast pock

I had found them by chance when I was at Cannes for a film festival. They weren’t from any brand, just handmade set from an old woman on the street. They weren’t expensive, but they were one of a kind.
I loved them and wore mine almost all the time, but he had never worn his.
“I didn’t wear it because you didn’t want our relationship to be public, and these rings are too unique. So keep them in my suit pocket every day.”
He stood up and walked over to me, his gaze deep.
“I didn’t know if you wanted to get married, so I tried to hint at it by taking you to an engagement party, t

“If you weren’t ready, we could have waited a couple of years.”
“But you? You take all your temper out on me.”
“Aren’t you usually so polite to everyone else? Why are you always baring your teeth at me? Do you only bite the hand that feeds you?”
His voice grew lower. I looked up and met his deep, intense eyes, a fiery tenderness swimming in their dept

He pulled me into his arms and gently patted my back. “No more fighting, okay, sweetie?”
I hugged him back and murmured, “Okay.”
I couldn’t quite put my feelings into words, but I was slowly starting to realize.
I had been so spoiled by his affection for so long that my love had grown into a possessiveness that couldn’t
tolerate even the slightest possibility that he might not choose me, not even once.
I admit it. I was spoiled rotten.
