Chapter 8
I spent every day in the dance studio. After all, losing my legs meant I had to work ten times harder than before. The only thing that kept me balanced was the news the private detective I hired before leaving the country sent me.
The more miserable that scum and his slut of an ex–girlfriend were, the better my life seemed to go.
Before I left the country, Jack was still trying to discuss wedding plans with me.
I simply replied, “Don’t come near me again. If I have to marry you, I’d rather die.”
After that, I canceled my number and got a new SIM card.
Jack waited in vain for a response. The detective told me he was in a daze for a while, desperately sending people to search for me.
Unfortunately, my messages had sunk like stones in the ocean.
Jack had lost his mind. Every day, he would clutch my photo, mumbling in despair, “Lily, where are you? I’m sorry. Please come back.”
“What will you do without me?”
Even when Rachel came to find him, he shoved her away forcefully. “It’s all your fault! You drove Lily away!”
Rachel wasn’t about to tolerate Jack’s outburst. “What are you talking about?! She’s probably hiding somewhere and killing herself. What’s that got to do with me?”
“It’s you! If you hadn’t hit Lily with your car, she would never have left me!” Jack suddenly snapped, shoving Rachel to the ground. He climbed on top of her, frantically slapping her face. In no time, her face was swollen and unrecognizable, like a pig’s head.
When the detective sent me the video, I was in the middle of the final rehearsal for my performance.
I watched the footage with an indifferent expression and muttered, “Maybe tenderness was never in his nature.”
The art exhibition George held for me was a huge success. My mentor quickly organized a dance performance based
on the same theme.
In just a few days, it would be my debut.
I pushed Jack and Rachel out of my mind, focusing all my energy on preparing for my first performance.
Back home…
“Mr. Harris, we found Miss Lily!”

The assistant pushed open the office door, finding Jack, drunk and disheveled, surrounded by a mess.
When Jack heard the news, he looked at the phone screen showing my grand performance. He was silent for a long
time.
It turned out that Lily, even without her legs, could still shine on stage.
Lily–he was going to find Lily,
Jack stumbled down the stairs, his mind fixed on one thought: he was going to drive to find Lily.
As he got in the car, Rachel appeared again.
For some reason, an idea suddenly flashed in his mind!
“Bang!”
The impact of the crash hit me with such force that my body was struck by an unstoppable power, knocking me off balance!
As the two families argued over the failed cooperation, they ended up being pushed together, unable to do anything but care for each other.
The two of them, like madmen, spent every day cursing each other.
As the Moore family’s company was about to go public overseas, I released the recording.
The news spread rapidly, becoming a hot topic. It wasn’t just because the whistleblower was the rising dance star and artist, Lily (whose artist name was Chi), but because of the content of the recording itself!
Overseas, the coverage was overwhelming. Back home, the Moore family’s corporate reputation plummeted. The shopping platforms they were affiliated with saw massive order cancellations, and they lost billions.
Rachel, upon seeing the news, shook her head in disbelief. “No way! No way!”
Then she and Jack got caught up in a daily routine of mutual insults. Both of them were dirty, their appearance wild and unkempt, like complete lunatics.
Meanwhile, I continued to chase my dreams of art, growing further and further away from them, becoming an unreachable existence for both Jack and Rachel.
