Chapter 6
In a dizzying blur, her body tumbled heavily down the stairs.
Excruciating pain instantly engulfed her entire body, warm liquid flowing from her forehead, blurring her vision.
The two children stood at the top of the stairs, their faces wearing malicious smiles.
“Serves you right!” Emma clapped her hands.
“That’s what you get for not giving us cake!” Ethan made a mocking face.
Cassidy struggled to her feet, blood dripping from her chin onto the floor.
She stared at these two little monsters, unable to connect them with the babies she had once been willing to die to bring into this world.
The front door suddenly opened.
“What’s going on?”
Gabriel’s deep voice echoed through the hall. Natalie followed behind him. Seeing the scene, all two froze in their
tracks.
“Daddy!” The children immediately changed their expressions, rushing over to him in tears. “Mom threw away our cake and said she doesn’t want us anymore, waah!”
Gabriel’s gaze fell on the cake in the trash, then shifted to the bloodied Cassidy, his brow furrowing deeply. “Cassidy, why do you insist on making the children’s lives miserable?”
His voice was cold as ice: “Saying such things to your own flesh and blood–what kind of mother are you?”
Cassidy leaned against the wall to slowly stand, her blood staining her collar.
She looked at Gabriel and suddenly laughed.
“When have I ever been good enough in your eyes?” Her voice was hoarse. “Haven’t you always treated me as nothing more than a breeding tool?”
Gabriel’s pupils contracted slightly.
“Since the wife you want is Natalie,” Cassidy wiped the blood from her face, “and the children only want her as their mother, I’ll step aside. Make your perfect family of four.”
The moment the words left her lips, the air instantly froze.

Chapter 6
Gabriel’s expression became exceptionally dark as he stared at Cassidy, as if truly seeing her for the first time.
“Cassidy, don’t forget,” his voice was deep and cutting, “the Westbrook–Morgan marriage was just a business arrangement. There was never any love involved.”
“What did you expect from me? Love?” He laughed coldly. “Sorry, I can’t give you that.”
Cassidy let out a bitter laugh that turned into tears streaming down her face.
Yes, he was right.
She was the fool, the idiot who thought she could bring a god down to earth.
Gabriel had indeed once been brought down–but not by her.
She should have known better.
“Gabriel, enough…” Natalie timely pulled at his arm. “The children are frightened. Let’s take them upstairs.”
Gabriel gave Cassidy one last, long look before turning away, carrying both children with Natalie by his side.
Cassidy watched their retreating figures, blood still dripping steadily.
She regretted it all now-
Regretted marrying Gabriel.
Regretted giving birth to those children.
In this life, she would not repeat her mistakes.
From now on, she would live for herself alone.
Three days later was Ethan’s birthday.
The celebration was held at the city’s most luxurious hotel–Aman New York.
Crystal chandeliers refracted brilliant light, a champagne tower glittered in the center of the ballroom. As always, Gabriel had reserved an entire floor for Ethan’s grand birthday party.
Cassidy stood in a corner, watching Ethan and Emma holding Natalie’s hands on either side, like two happy birds circling around her. The children clung to Natalie the entire time, deliberately ignoring their birth mother.
Gabriel stood nearby, his long fingers holding a champagne flute, his gaze occasionally falling on Natalie, his eyes showing a tenderness Cassidy had never received.
“Mr. Westbrook truly is devoted. After all these years, he still only has eyes for Miss Hayes.”

“Absolutely! The children take after him too–they only care about Natalie.
