The atmosphere in the Blake family living room was suffocatingly tense.
Thaddeus sat on the sofa with a dark expression, fingers drumming relentlessly on the armrest.
Violet huddled in the corner, her head practically tucked into her chest.
Ever since seeing that video at the mall, Thaddeus had desperately tried to contact Selena only to
discover he’d been blocked.
He was about to rush to the Lockhart estate when an urgent call from his parents called back him
home.
Now, both families sat around the table, scrolling through news updates on their phones, their expressions growing grimmer by the second.
“Ding…”
Thaddeus’s phone buzzed.
He stared at the suspension notice on his screen, his fingers unconsciously tightening.
Almost simultaneously, Selenareceived her expulsion notification from the university.
Eugene and Harold finally put down their phones to discuss a strategy.
Mildred forced a smile,
‘Maybe we should postpone their wedding.There’s no rush. We can handle it after the baby arrives.”
Harold slammed his fist on the table,
‘Bullshit! My daughter is already showing, and you want to postpone?Get married immediately!”
Eugene massaged his temples,
“The scandal is still hot.If we hold a ceremony now, the online backlash will only get worse. Both our families still have reputations in the medical community–the bigger this gets, the harder it’ll be to
recover.”

“Thaddeus has only been suspended. With his credentials, the hospital won’t actually fire him. Once
this blows over, he can be reinstated.”
Eugene roared,
“Selenahas been expelled! The internet’s is calling her a homewrecker! How else can we restore her
reputation without a wedding?”
Mildred muttered under her breath: “Well, technically she is a homewrecker…”
“What did you just say?!”
Thaddeus slammed the table and shouted“Everyone, shut up!”
The entire room instantly fell silent, everyone shocked by his explosive outburst.
His voice turned icy“First, I will not marry Violet. Second, after the baby is born, she must go abroad
to continue her studies.”
The air seemed to freeze as the four parents exchanged bewildered glances.
Their parents exchanged stunned glances.
“Thaddeus, what the hell does that mean? What are you treating Selenalike?”
Thaddeus closed his eyes briefly, his tone resolute,
“Violet and I were always clear about this. The only person I’ve ever wanted to marry is Selena. That will never change.”
Violet kept her head down, tears falling in large drops, but remained completely silent.
Mildred trembled with anger,
“At a time like this, you’re still thinking about that Lockhart bitch? If it weren’t for her, would things have gotten this bad?”
“Mom!” Thaddeus cut her off sharply. “Selenais my fiancée. Don’t you dare insult her like that!”
He rubbed his temples in frustration,
“I’m the one who messed up this time. She’s just throwing a tantrum–I’ll win her back.”

Hearing this, Violet could no longer hold back, covering her mouth as she sobbed.
Mildred slammed down his teacup,
“Throwing a tantrum? She’s destroyed both our families! You’ve lost your job, and you’re still defending her?”
Thaddeus suddenly stood up, his eyes red–rimmed, “I don’t care about any of that… I just can’t lose
Selena…”
His voice broke as he collapsed back onto the sofa.
To everyone’s shock, this usually composed, cool–headed man lowered his head, covered his face with his hands, his shoulders trembling slightly as he released muffled sobs.
Thaddeus’s parents sank onto the sofa, exchanging helpless glances and shaking their heads.
Violet spoke through her tears,
“Thaddeus, even if Selenahas married someone else, you still… you still won’t love me?”
Thaddeus froze, then turned to glare at her viciously,
“Shut up your mouth! If you hadn’t secretly recorded that video and sent it to Selena she never would have left me! I was drunk that night–nothing I said was real!”
He pointed at Violet’s face, his voice shaking,
“I must have been blind not to see how manipulative and vicious you are! Get out! Get out of here right now!”
Violet stared back in shock, tears streaming down her face.
This man who had once been so gentle with her now looked terrifyingly vicious.
“Thaddeus, you never used to be like this.”
“God, you’re annoying!” Thaddeus irritably ran his fingers through his hair. “You’re twenty–three years old and still crying like a baby. What are you, three?”
He suddenly remembered that Selenararely cried in front of him.

The only time in the kitchen–he’d been frustrated then too, but it was heartache, regret for making her cry.
Violet suddenly clutched her stomach and screamed, “It hurts… baby… don’t scare mommy…”
Here we go again.
Thaddeus let out a derisive laugh, covered his ears, and stood up.
To everyone’s astonishment, he stormed out, slamming the door behind him without looking back.
Right now, the most important thing was finding Selenaand bringing her back.
