Chapter 4
For the entire day, there was no word from Thaddeus.
His mother Mildred, however, couldn’t wait to call, her voice dripping with superiority,
“You know about Thaddeus and Violet, right? Now that she’s carrying the heir of the Blake family, we absolutely won’t let her be treated unfairly. Thaddeus will marry her properly. Thank goodness
you two didn’t get certificate yesterday!”
“I always said you weren’t perfect match. The Lockhart family has been in business for three
generations, while the Blakes have been doctors for generations. Our family foundations simply don’t match, right?”
I let out a cold laugh:
“Mrs. Blake, Thaddeus and I have broken up. Unless it’s important, please don’t contact me again.”
There was an obvious pause on the other end of the line. She clearly hadn’t expected such a response from someone who had always been so accommodating.
Just as she was about to explode, I decisively ended the call.
She immediately called back several times.
Without hesitation, I blocked her number, then proceeded to block all of Thaddeus’s contact
information as well.
I deleted all our photos together. Five years of love, gone just like that.
The next day, while selecting wedding rings at a jewelry store, I unexpectedly ran into Thaddeus and Violet.
He was enthusiastically designing an expensive set of jewelry for Violet, along with a traditional protection pendant for their unborn child.
When he saw me trying on rings, Thaddeus’s face instantly darkened,
“Selena,I told you to go home for reflection, and here you are buying wedding rings? You think with this shit attitude I’d still marry you?”

He roughly grabbed my hand and forcibly removed the ring, handing it back to the staff.
“We won’t be buying it, thank you.”
The diamond’s edge cut into my finger, and blood immediately welled up.
The staff hurriedly tried to tend to my wound, but Thaddeus coldly stopped her,
“It’s just a small cut. Doesn’t matter.”
I ignored him.
Wiping away the blood, I said to the staff“Please show me that other ring instead.”
Thaddeus seized my wrist, shouting“Was I not clear enough? You’re not buying any rings TODAY!”
Nearby customers began whispering,
“That pregnant woman must be his wife. This mistress is pretty brazen, openly shopping for
wedding rings.”
“So shameless. Being a homewrecker and still wanting official status. No wonder the man’s yelling at
her.”
Seeing this, Violet pretended to mediate,
“Selena, please stop making a scene. It’s embarrassing with all these people watching. Why don’t I give you the ring Thaddeus just bought me? See if it’s your style?”
The staff also tried to persuade me,
“Ma’am, maybe you should come back another day… We can’t really do business with this kind of
disturbance.”
Thaddeus’s grip tightened, clearly about to drag me out forcibly.
I yanked my hand free,
“Thaddeus, what business is it of yours if I buy a wedding ring? Please mind your own business!”
“None of my business? Fine, I’m officially canceling our engagement. You’ll never need a wedding ring now!”

With that, he shoved me hard.
As I stumbled backward about to fall, a pair of hands steadied me firmly.
Archer’s voice sounded in my ear,
“Sorry I’m late, wife.”
