Before I could even react, Mom stormed over and slapped me hard across the face.
“Brielle Sterling, how did I have such a vicious daughter?”
“Viviana just said she was going to buy mangoes to make you a mango cake–she’s so good to you, and this is how you treat her?”
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.
Good to me?
She knew damn well I was allergic to mangoes, yet she’d deliberately make me mango cake to play the innocent angel in front of Mom and Dad.
“I didn’t push her.”
Stinging pain shot across my face, but I held back tears, forcing a calm look.
“If you don’t believe me, check the security cameras. She fell down herself–I never even touched her.”
“Enough!”
Dad snapped, sighing like I was the worst sinner on earth.
“If you have a problem, say it straight. We tried to talk for you, but Camden likes Viviana, not you.”
“This isn’t your sister’s fault. Why take it out on her? Why try to destroy her?” His voice turned sharp.
“If you keep this up, the Sterling family has no room for a troublemaker like you. Go back to wherever the hell you
came from!”
My fingernails dug deep into my palms. Dad’s words felt like boulders crushing my chest, making it hard to breathe.
No matter how hard I tried to fit into this family, no matter that I shared their blood–I was still an outsider.
Mom rushed off anxiously to call the family doctor. Dad carefully helped Viviana upstairs to rest.
I chuckled bitterly and turned to leave, but a cold voice stopped me.
“Brielle!”
Camden’s gaze was icy and dark, filled with disgust and hatred.
“Viviana’s head is bleeding that badly–how dare you say she fell on her own?”

“I really regret being so nice to you before. I gave you the chance to hurt Viviana.”
I was already in a terrible mood and didn’t want to deal with his crap, but Camden wasn’t about to let me off.
He stepped forward and grabbed my wrist hard.
“Don’t think I don’t know what’s going through your head.”
“You’re pissed you can’t marry me, so you’re taking it out on Viviana. I told you–if you’ve got a problem, come at me.”
“You think hurting Viviana with these dirty tricks will make me marry you? Dream on.”
I stared at him, then broke into a mocking smile.
“Camden, I never wanted to marry you.”
Hell, I didn’t even want anything to do with him.
Camden stiffened slightly, his lips curling into a cold sneer.
“You better not.”
“And don’t try any of that playing–hard–to–get bullshit with me. The only person I want to marry is Viviana. If I catch you hurting her again, I won’t let it slide.”
I didn’t sleep that night. I sat on the balcony staring at the stars till dawn.
In my past life, whenever Viviana bullied me, Camden would come sit here with me, watching stars and listening to my troubles.
3ut this time, he’d joined Viviana’s camp too.
told myself it was fine. Even if I was all alone, I’d fight this battle to the end.
The next day at breakfast, Dad told us about Old Mrs. Ravencrest’s upcoming birthday banquet.
Brielle, Viviana–don’t forget to prepare birthday gifts for Mrs. Ravencrest.”
On the day of the banquet, Camden personally drove Viviana there. She wore her gown like a proud white peacock.
Sorry, sis. My dress is so puffy there’s no room for a third person in the car. Guess you’ll have to take a taxi.”
‘assersby whispered and pointed, saying the Sterling family’s eldest daughter had to take taxis–worse treatment han a servant’s kid.
ignored them, hailed a cab, and headed to the banquet.

Chapter 2
When she saw me, Old Mrs. Ravencrest warmly took my hands. “You must be Brielle, the Sterling girl who just came home. You look so well–mannered and sweet.”
Viviana shot me a jealous look.
She smiled and stepped forward. “Mrs. Ravencrest, my sister and I both brought you birthday gifts.”
“Oh? What are they?”
The old lady perked up with interest. “Let’s have a look.”
Viviana and I opened our gift boxes at the same time. The room fell silent for a beat, then erupted in shocked
murmurs.
“The Sterling sisters both brought alcohol? And they’re identical!”
More and more people started mocking us.
“The Sterling family raised daughters like this? Had the nerve to bring them to embarrass themselves at the Ravencrest banquet.”
Viviana stared at my gift box in disbelief, her eyes reddening. “Sis, why are you copying me?”
Camden immediately shielded her, sneering at me. “Brielle, don’t you know gift–giving is about sincerity?”
“This is my grandmother’s birthday banquet. Is this how little you care? Think you’re running some wholesale
operation?”
Mrs. Ravencrest’s face darkened considerably. Some people even called for throwing me out.
I stepped forward calmly.
“Our gifts aren’t the same.”
I pulled the two bottles from my gift box. When everyone saw the packaging, they froze.
“Holy shit, am I seeing this right? That’s Macallan Fine and Rare 1926!”
“What? The one that sold for over a million at auction? The most expensive whiskey ever sold?”
“Who knew the eldest Sterling daughter had connections to get something like this.”
Hearing the chatter, I spoke calmly.
“Everyone knows Mrs. Ravencrest is a whiskey connoisseur and knows quality. Try it and you’ll know what this is worth.”
“This is Macallan Fine and Rare 1926. Collectors around the world fight over bottles like this–truly priceless.”

Chapter 2
“As for what my sister brought, one look at the label tells you it’s fake.”
I’d noticed when we opened the boxes–Viviana had bought counterfeit liquor.
Hearing this, Viviana panicked.
“Brielle, how dare you accuse me of bringing fakes? Yours is the fake one!”
“Enough,” Mrs. Ravencrest said. “Real or fake, a taste will tell.”
Camden stepped forward, taking both bottles and pouring a glass from each.
Mrs. Ravencrest first tried mine, her face lighting up with pleasure. “This whiskey is exquisite–truly exceptional quality.”
Then she tried Viviana’s. The old lady immediately spat it out.
“What kind of garbage is this? I’ve been drinking whiskey for decades and never tasted anything so awful.”
Viviana’s face went white. “How is that possible?”
Camden looked at her in disbelief. “Viviana, if you didn’t have money, you could’ve asked me. How could you give Grandma fake liquor?”
Mom and Dad usually gave Viviana plenty of spending money.
But I’d overheard her deliberately buying fake liquor to pocket the difference so she could hire male escorts.
Viviana glared at me. “Brielle, how could your liquor possibly be real?”
