Chapter 8
After hurriedly washing up, Knox drove to the company.
The moment he walked in, he heard employees gossiping.
“The company starts falling apart right after Manager Vale leaves? There must be something going
on.”
“She’s just a gold–digger who failed to climb the ladder. What could she possibly do? It’s just
coincidence.”
“Exactly. Once Secretary Reed returns from sick leave, we’ll definitely get those projects back. She’s
the real backbone of this company. Who does Raven Vale think she is?”
A group huddled in the break room, degrading Raven with every sentence.
Listening to these comments, Knox’s initial displeasure gradually transformed into suppressed rage.
So this was the caliber of his company’s employees?
No wonder Raven never smiled after work–these were the colleagues she faced every day.
And yet, she had never once complained to him about it.
Just as the slander reached its peak, Knox could take no more. He pushed open the door.
“You want to know what Raven Vale is capable of? She’s my wife.”
“And she’s the sole person responsible for every project in this company.”
“This company exists because of her. She built it from the ground up. Even if she’s gone now, it’s only temporary. If I hear one more word of gossip, I’ll make sure you’re permanently removed from this
company!”
His powerful declaration instantly silenced his subordinates.
Everyone blanched, and by the time they recovered, Knox had already slammed the door shut.
The break room immediately erupted.

Chapter 8
“Raven is the boss’s wife? Then what’s Marlow?”
“Holy shit, a secret marriage? That’s wild! I’ve badmouthed Raven before–does the boss know? Will
he fire me?”
“So Marlow’s actually the homewrecker? And she’s been strutting around in front of us–what an
act!”
The company chat group suddenly buzzed with activity, filled with criticism.
Knox didn’t care what Marlow, currently on leave, might think. His only concern now was finding Raven and bringing her back to his side.
After a night of clear thinking, he had figured it out.
He and Raven weren’t just spouses–loving her had become his habit, a mindset that had dulled the passion of their romance.
The fault was entirely his.
If Raven would come back, he’d pay any price to make amends.
At this thought, he checked his phone–still no reply from Raven in their chat, and his calls continued to go unanswered.
Suddenly, Hayden’s words surfaced again, at least giving him a direction.
He immediately instructed his staff to follow leads to find her, while he personally visited each business partner, determined not to lose these projects.
At the first company, security stopped him downstairs, claiming the CEO was out on business and inavailable.
By then, managers from two banks had already visited Knox’s company, demanding repayment within three days.
At the second partner’s office, Knox couldn’t even speak before the assistant threw him out.
Returning to his car, he discovered someone had punctured his tires.
He had no choice but to walk to the third company.

Just then, the sky opened up with torrential rain, quickly soaking him to the bone.
Like before, as soon as Knox entered the building, security escorted him out, stating he couldn’t go
upstairs without an appointment.
By this point, all five partnering banks had issued Knox final ultimatums.
On the verge of despair, he trudged through the rain, a pathetic sight.
The only good news was that his staff had located Raven.
According to their information, she had purchased an office building and was preparing to establish
her own company.
When Knox arrived, Raven was deep in conversation with the renovation manager.
Seeing her focused expression from a distance instantly mesmerized him.
How long had it been since he’d really looked at his wife? He couldn’t remember.
The beauty had always been there–he just hadn’t paid attention, so he never noticed…
eling an intense gaze, I turned my head and met Knox’s eyes directly.
