Marlow’s smile froze instantly. Panic flashed in her eyes, but in the next moment, she quickly switched to an indignant expression.
“How could this happen? Only your wife and I handled those projects. Could she possibly have…?”
She paused, glancing carefully at Knox’s face.
Seeing no reaction, she acted as if she’d just realized her mistake, sticking out her tongue playfully.
“That’s not what I meant. These projects are her life’s work–she’d never give them to outsiders.”
“Must be some misunderstanding, right? Or is she just trying to get back at you? Let me talk to her
and clear things up. I can’t let the company suffer because of me–that would be too much guilt to
bear.”
The same old script–defending me on the surface while secretly directing all suspicion toward me.
But unlike before, Knox wasn’t buying her performance this time.
His expression hardened, lips pressed into a thin line.
After a long pause, he spoke coldly:
“I’ll get to the bottom of this. You’re injured–stay home and rest. Don’t come to the office for the next few days. I’ll approve your leave myself.”
His gaze swept over the bandage wrapped around Marlow’s forehead before he turned and pressed the elevator button.
At that moment, his emotions were a tangled mess.
Undeniably, he did feel some attraction toward Marlow, but not enough to shake his marriage or his feelings for Raven.
He had always held himself to high standards, despising men who couldn’t control their base desires.
He had vowed at his wedding to remain faithful to Raven for life.

So when he discovered his feelings for Marlow, he avoided, dodged, and even felt ashamed.
Just when he thought he had suppressed these budding emotions, Raven had somehow detected
them.
His displayed anger and irritability were merely covers for his true feelings.
Rationally, he still considered only Raven as his wife.
Marlow was just a secretary–a passerby in his life.
He naturally trusted his wife of ten years over her words.
Now he urgently needed to find Raven and get answers.
With this thought, he quickened his pace, getting into his car so hastily that he didn’t notice Marlow behind him, frozen in the motion of trying to open the passenger door.
Knox sped all the way home.
But the moment he stepped through the door, he noticed something was missing in the vast, empty
room…
The spot on the wall where their wedding photo had once hung was now empty.
The decorative pieces they had painted together during their courtship had also vanished without a
trace.
Even… every trace of their life together had disappeared, as if she had never existed at all.
Knox couldn’t believe Raven would actually choose to leave.
Until now, he’d always thought her divorce talk was just a way to make him sweat–after all, he had
never physically betrayed her.
With reddened eyes, Knox searched every corner of the house.
Bedroom, study, balcony…
Everywhere he looked, all of Raven’s belongings had disappeared.
His world seemed to lose all color in an instant, reverting to a space of only black, white, and gray.

In this moment, Knox clearly realized that Raven was truly gone.
And with her, the light in his world had been completely extinguished.
Knox collapsed helplessly onto the floor.
As his gaze wandered, he spotted a document on the table. He grabbed it frantically–the divorce agreement–the only thing Raven had left behind.
His hand fell limply to the floor as his eyes scanned the empty room again and again.
The couch where he and Raven had lain together.
The kitchen where they had cooked anniversary dinners.
The balcony where Raven had planted flowers especially for him.
All those memories gathered drop by drop, overwhelming him completely.
The calendar on table still showed their tenth anniversary date. Beside it sat an unopened gift box with a small card: “Happy 10th Anniversary! Love, Raven.”
Knox suddenly remembered how Raven always spent a month preparing anniversary gifts.
And what had he done? Casually grabbed a lipstick from Marlow’s desk–a free promotional item, no less.
Finally, he realized in this home, he had never noticed Raven’s contributions.
He had taken all her giving for granted, forgetting that his partner was also weathering life’s storms without a moment’s rest.
The image of Raven working late at her desk at 3 AM flashed through his mind.
Back then, he had only complained that she wasn’t working hard enough during office hours, forgetting that after work, she devoted herself entirely to him–doing laundry, preparing dinner–her time completely scheduled.
Not a single minute belonged to herself.
Tears suddenly broke free, falling onto the floor and crashing into his heart–he realized he regretted everything.

If he could do it all over again, he would never have signed that agreement.
He jumped to his feet, about to rush out and search for Raven.
At that moment, his phone rang.
