James‘ pupils suddenly narrowed.
“Katie…” he began, but before he could finish his sentence, the two wedding cars had already passed each other.
James‘ vehicle was stuck at the intersection, while the limousine raced down the clear road ahead.
“Mr. Jimmerson, how could that have been Ms. Jensen?” asked the driver, who was familiar with Katie and had seen the bride–but couldn’t believe it was the same ordinary tour guide he knew.
James said nothing.
The woman in the car bore an uncanny resemblance to Katie.
But Katie was just a modest tour guide, with no connections and no acquaintances in Spain–certainly not someone who could be part of a wedding like this.
Yet, she still hadn’t responded to his messages.
James frantically tried calling her, but she ignored all his attempts to reach her.
Filled with anxiety and helplessness, he urged the driver to speed up.
“Hurry up,” he repeated.
The driver increased the pace, and after half an hour, they finally arrived at the hotel where Pamela was waiting to be
wed.
Pamela, dressed in a pristine white wedding gown, looked stunning with her bridal makeup.
However, during the bride–picking ceremony, James was distracted, constantly checking his phone.
“James, pay attention! This is the bride–picking ceremony! The bridesmaids are going to give you a hard time!” re- minded Anthony Keate, a lawyer and James‘ best man, who had traveled from their home country for the occasion.
“All right,” James replied.
Meanwhile, Jessica kept switching between demanding money and making him look foolish, testing James‘ patience
to its limits.
“Don’t waste time,” James said curtly, his words carrying a chill.
Jessica stood still, turning to Pamela in surprise.
Since arriving in Spain, Pamela hadn’t seen him act so coldly–especially not on such an important occasion.
Even though she felt uneasy, she moved forward and linked her arm with James‘, telling Jessica, “All right, Jessica,

don’t make things hard for my husband! I’ll be happy.”
Laughter bubbled around them as everyone playfully chided Pamela for choosing her husband over her friends.

Throughout the ceremony, Pamela clung to James‘ arm, but his thoughts were elsewhere–preoccupied with concern for Katie. He went through the proceedings in a haze, worrying if she was alone in the hotel, feeling unhappy.
“James, it’s time for the vows,” Anthony prompted him.
James jolted back to the present moment–it was time to recite the vows.
He gazed at Pamela, who looked at him expectantly.
As he began to speak, he accidentally said, “Katie, being with you…”
Realizing his mistake immediately, he corrected himself, “What day is it now? Every day spent with you, Pamela, feels like Valentine’s Day…”
Although he managed to fix his slip–up, Pamela’s smile had already turned strained.
With difficulty, he finished reciting the vows.
The pastor then proceeded with the ceremony.

“Mr. James Jimmerson, I ask you now. Do you wish to marry this woman, Pamela Joelle? To love her and remain faithful to her, through poverty, illness, or disability, until death parts you?”
For some reason, when the pastor asked this solemn question, the words “I do” seemed caught in James‘ throat and wouldn’t come out.
“James…” Pamela prompted him.
However, Pamela’s smile had already disappeared.
The wedding concluded with James appearing distracted.
In the lounge, Pamela seemed visibly upset.
She confronted James, “What is going on with you today? Why did you mention Katie’s name? Are you really just friends with her?”
James responded to Pamela with a serious expression, “Pamela, everything I did was to help you get your memory back, but it seems it didn’t work very well. Since you’re asking, I need to be truthful–I have feelings for Katie. She’s my girlfriend, and I intend to marry her and spend my life with her.”
