Chapter 9
James bent down and grabbed his hair:
“I’m the friend who grew up with her, the man who’s had a crush on her for over a decade. You, Henry, are destined to be my rival!”
Henry suddenly exploded with rage: “How long have you two had this relationship?”
James slapped him to the ground again.
“Your mouth is truly filthy. Yesterday you dared call me some insignificant man?”
“If not for seeing how much she cared about you… do you think I would have backed down five years ago?”
He lowered his voice, his lips curling into mockery:
“Actually, I should thank you, useless fool, for sending her back to me.”
After speaking, James turned and walked away.
Henry got up to follow but was immediately stopped by two black–suited bodyguards.
“Mr. Henry, you should go back now.”
Henry knelt before his grandfather, his entire body rigid.
The person he feared most in life was his grandfather, yet he had done so many things to anger the old man.
“The Everly family came to break off the engagement. In my lifetime, I’ve finally incurred a debt I cannot repay.”
“Two choices.” The old man slowly lifted his eyelids, a flash of coldness in his eyes. “Either leave the Sinclair family, or remarry Chloe and never approach Leila again.”
Henry didn’t hesitate for a moment and immediately knelt down:
“Grandfather, I won’t choose either!”
The old man’s fingers suddenly tightened, though his face remained calm:
“I’ll decide for you. Leave the Sinclair family immediately.”
Henry suddenly looked up at his grandfather’s cold face, then lowered his head deeply: “Fine.”
The moment his forehead touched the ground, Henry felt an unprecedented sense of liberation.

Chapter 9
When he stood up, Chloe, who had been hiding outside the door, called out to him.
“Henry, would you rather be expelled from the Sinclair family than be with me?”
“I love you so much, I did everything possible to drive Leila away for you. Why do you only have eyes for her?!”
“Do I have to die before you’ll react at all?”
Henry didn’t turn back, walking straight toward the door.
Chloe stood up with a tragic smile and suddenly rushed toward the wall.
The Sinclair family patriarch gestured for bodyguards to stop her: “Don’t dirty my floor. Please escort Miss Chloe
out.”
During my hospital stay, Henry came unusually frequently.
Sometimes carrying the latest designer bags, saying he brought fresh clothes.
Sometimes carrying bags of food, saying the family chef specially made light soups.
Each time he was stopped outside the room by James’s cold face.
n all our years together, he’d never cared about these small things.
He didn’t even remember my birthday, yet he remembered Chloe’s menstrual cycle.
suddenly burst out laughing.
ames, who was organizing my discharge papers, looked up in confusion.
laughed so hard I clutched my stomach on the bed, completely unable to control myself:
Henry used to say I was his one true love. How ridiculous!”
ames suddenly put down his folder and pressed me back onto the bed, narrowing his eyes:
Leila, you can think about men, but not that idiot.”
suppressed my laughter and asked seriously: “Really? I can think about other men?”
le pinched my earlobe and said through gritted teeth: “In your dreams!”
Not even my brother?”
No!TM

I rolled my eyes and pinched his cheeks: “Mr. James, is it okay if I only think about you?”
He suddenly jumped up: “Leila, you’ve gotten bad! You actually know how to make men happy now!”
I grabbed a pillow and threw it at him. He caught it steadily, grinning like a triumphant fox: “You can only flatter me. I like it this way.”
