The more Andrea thought about it, the more she broke down.
Yes–what had she done?
First, she got pregnant with another man’s child behind her husband’s back. Then she tried to secretly give birth to it. Worse yet, she even brought that man into their home into their master bedroom.
What’s worse, she had raised her hand against him–the very person she once swore to protect from pain and tears. And now, she had done it all.
She had betrayed every promise.
What the hell was she doing?!
Consumed with regret, Andrea shoved through the crowd, grabbed her assistant by the collar and snapped, “Investigate it now! I want everything on that invitation–where it came from, who delivered it, and if it’s real!”
“And I want Peter’s location. I don’t care what you have to do. I need to know now!”
In her mind, as long as she could find him, she could beg for forgiveness.
If once wasn’t enough, she’d beg twice.
If twice failed, she’d beg a hundred times.
As long as she changed, as long as she tried, he would forgive her. He had to.
They had ten years of love. She couldn’t let go.
However, when the assistant returned, her words shattered everything Andrea was holding on to.
“Miss Hayes… The Civil Affairs Bureau confirmed that you and Mr. Crawford have officially completed the divorce. The marriage has been dissolved.”
“According to their records, his current status is married.”
Andrea froze, her eyes widened in disbelief.
The assistant’s words echoed relentlessly in her ears.
“Divorced? That’s impossible! When did I get divorced? How come I don’t know anything about
it?!”
The assistant handed her a copy of the divorce agreement from the bureau.
Her eyes locked onto the signature. That familiar handwriting sent a jolt through her.
Suddenly, she realized something. That day she let Harvey move into the house, Peter asked her to sign something.
But it was just a blank form.
How… how did it become a divorce agreement?
Then it struck her–even if she had signed it, they never went to the bureau to collect the divorce certificate. Without that, how could their marriage be considered legally over?
A flicker of hope lit in her chest.
Maybe it was just a clerical mistake. She quickly called a friend–someone who had helped them

get their marriage certificate years ago, even after working hours,
Soon after, the line connected.
“Andrea! Congrats on finding someone new and having a baby! I was just about to call you!”
Andrea’s heart sank.“What are you talking about? I’m calling to ask about the divorce certificate:
Her friend sounded puzzled as she asked, “Didn’t you already agree? You were at the hospital with your new husband, right? I called to confirm, and you said yes.”
“You sounded busy, so I just took care of it for you and had the stamp issued.”
That’s when she remembered. Two days ago, she got a call from this friend.
But Harvey had been whining about how uncomfortable the hospital bed was, pouting with that pitiful expression.
She’d been so focused on comforting him that she barely registered what was said on the phone. She just vaguely remembered someone asking, “Do you agree?”
She absentmindedly replied, “Yes, yes, I agree. I’m busy taking care of postpartum stuff!”
She never imagined that it was the agreement to divorce.
The crushing realization hit her like a tidal wave, and she collapsed into a chair, overwhelmed.
She really had… divorced him.
The once–powerful CEO, so decisive in business, now sat trembling with red–rimmed eyes.
Over and over, she whispered, “Peter… Where are you? Can I come find you?”
“Why did you divorce me without a word? You knew I didn’t want that.”
“Do you not want me anymore? Peter, I never stopped loving you… I was wrong. I was really really wrong…”
The woman’s pained expression stirred sympathy from everyone present. The once–admired golden couple of their circle had now parted ways–just like that.
