party was buzzing, loud and chaotic. Andrea didn’t catch it clearly.
“What did you say? Say it again!”
“Getting married? Who’s getting married today?!”
The assistant opened her mouth, but couldn’t summon the courage to repeat it.
After a long pause, the assistant finally stammered out, “Miss… Miss Hayes, a wedding invitation arrived this morning. It’s from Mr. Crawford… The date…the date is today…”
The moment the words fell, the entire venue fell into dead silence.
And Andrea heard it clearly.
Her face turned ghostly pale in an instant. “What?!”
“You’re saying Peter is getting married today? That’s got to be the biggest joke of the century!”
Her expression darkened with disbelief, and the assistant was so frightened she didn’t dare say another word. With trembling hands, she opened the invitation.
Andrea looked down and saw the red–gold lettering.
Groom: Peter Crawford
Bride: Helena Guerrero
Date: Jan 29, 2025
But no location was listed.
Andrea instinctively staggered back a few steps, completely losing control of her emotions.
“No, this can’t be happening!”
“Peter would never marry someone else. He’s my husband! We haven’t even divorced!”
“He must still be mad about what happened that day. This has to be some kind of stunt to test my reaction.”
“But I’ve said it before–I won’t get a divorce. I never will!”
Panicked, she fumbled for her phone and quickly dialed his number–the one she had pinned to the top of her contacts. But the only response was a cold, automated message.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try your call again later.”
Only then did reality begin to hit her.
They had been married for seven years. Every single day without fail, she had sent him good morning and good night messages–no matter how busy she was or how late it got.
But now, it had been an entire month since she last called him or even sent a single text.
The realization made her tremble uncontrollably. She clutched a chair to keep herself from collapsing.
Just then, Harvey walked over, casually slipping his hand around her arm like he always did, his tone still soft and innocent.
“Andrea, don’t be upset. Today is the baby’s one–month celebration. Everyone is watching.

Whatever it is, let’s talk about it later.”
“Maybe Peter did this on purpose–just to embarrass both of us. Why else would he have the invitation delivered today of all days? Not yesterday, not tomorrow, but today. He’s clearly playing mind games.”
Harvey had been making these sly, passive–aggressive comments for the past month. Back then, Andrea didn’t think much of it. After all, he was injured, so it was understandable.
But now, those words felt like daggers.
That man… Peter was her husband. They had been together for ten years and vowed on their wedding day to stay together for life. How could she allow a mere intern to insult him like this while she stood by and did nothing?
Without another word, Andrea suddenly yanked her arm free.
“Ah-!”
Caught off guard, Harvey stumbled and fell to the side, accidentally twisting his ankle.
Pain shot up his leg, making his vision blur. His face contorted in agony.
“Andrea, what are you doing?! My foot–it hurts so bad!”
He sat on the floor, waiting for her to gently help him up like she always did.
But this time, he waited in vain.
The woman staring down at him no longer wore that familiar look of concern. Instead, her eyes were cold and sharp.
‘Listen carefully–Peter is my husband. You’re nothing more than a tool I used to get pregnant. The next time I hear you insult him, I’ll have you kicked out of America.”
As soon as she said this, the crowd erupted into whispers. All around them, people began murmuring in shock, condemning Harvey’s behavior. Someone even pulled out their phone to record the scene.
Harvey’s face turned from pale to red to green, humiliated beyond belief. He wished he could vanish on the spot.
But the searing pain in his ankle kept him rooted to the floor, unable to move.
Meanwhile, Andrea’s mind began to replay everything that had happened over the past few weeks.
