Aiden couldn’t accept Elise’s accusation. How could he not love Caroline?
He had married her, created a child with her, taken care of her every need–how could he not love
her?
Caroline terminating the pregnancy and divorcing him–all of it was Elise’s fault.
Aiden blamed everything on Elise.
If not for her, he’d still be with Caroline: Caroline would still be his wife.
Looking at Elise, now unconscious on the sofa. A twisted thought formed in his mind:
If Elise disappeared, would Caroline come back to him?
In his deranged state, Aiden convinced himself that Caroline would definitely return.
He imprisoned Elise, torturing her relentlessly and taking photos of her suffering.
Then he looked at these pictures, believed they would be enough to earn Caroline’s forgiveness.
“Caroline… Caroline.” After stalking her for days, Aiden finally caught Caroline alone.
She was on the phone with Lucas when she spotted Aiden approaching. She immediately ran and
sent Lucas her location as she fled.
“What do you want from me?” Caroline shouted, too exhausted to keep running. She grabbed a stick
from the side of the path and held it defensively.
Aiden thrust the photos toward her.
“Caroline, look. I’m done with Elise. Please come back to me.”
Caroline didn’t look at the photos, keeping the stick pointed at Aiden as he closed in.
“Whatever’s going on between you and Elise is your business. We’re divorced. I’m with Lucas now.”
Aiden ignored it. He knocked the stick from her hands and tossed it aside.

Chapter 20
“Aiden, I’m warning you–we’re divorced. If you keep harassing me, I’ll call the cops.”
Aiden ignored everything she said, backing her into a corner.
Just as he reached out to grab her, Lucas caught him by the collar.
Seeing Caroline cowering against the wall, Lucas kicked Aiden hard in the stomach. Aiden was slammed against the opposite wall. Then came the punches.
Aiden was bleeding from the mouth.
Afraid Lucas might kill him, Caroline pulled him back. “Lucas, stop! I’m okay. I’m just… I’m scared.”
Lucas stopped and pulled Caroline into his arms.
Aiden slumped to the ground, watching them. He tried to get up to separate them.
“She’s MINE, Lucas Elvador!” he snarled. “I got rid of Elise. Caroline will forgive me.”
“You? You’re nothing. I’m the one who truly loves her. We were married. She carried my child.”
Lucas moved to hit him again but Caroline held him back.
“Leave him alone. I don’t love him anymore.”
Seeing how frightened Caroline was, Lucas decided not to deal with Aiden further. He called the cops and let them handle it.
“Are you okay?” Lucas asked Caroline worriedly.
“I’m fine, just a little shaken.”
Lucas squeezed her hand, still terrified by what might have happened.
“From now on, I’m not letting you out of my sight. Not even for a second.”
