Chapter 9
Racing back home, Callan noticed something wrong before he even reached the door.
All the lights in the house were off. The entire mansion was shrouded in darkness, without a single light on, and no security guards were posted at the entrance.
Callan’s heart sank: What’s happened? Where are the guards? How dare they abandon their posts without my orders!
Due to his ruthless business tactics when he first took over the company, Callan had many enemies. Concerned they night target Lila, he had spent a fortune hiring recently discharged soldiers to guard the mansion.
Each guard was armed and patrolled the property 24/7, never allowing any suspicious individuals near the
nansion.
But now, the entrance guards were gone, and the patrol guards had vanished too.
A sense of foreboding grew in Callan’s heart. Without wasting time, he rushed into the mansion and shouted: “Lila! Lila, where are you? Answer me right now!”
Yet the entire mansion was empty–not only was Lila gone, but there wasn’t a single servant present either.
What’s going on? Did enemies come seeking revenge?” Callan thought anxiously: “Impossible. There’s no sign of a truggle. How could my enemies make everyone in the mansion disappear without a trace?”
Too impatient to speculate further, Callan pulled out his phone and called the head of security.
The call connected quickly. Callan spoke with a dark expression, emanating a terrifying aura: “Marcus, why have ill the security guards disappeared? You better have a damn good explanation, or I’ll grind you to dust!”
Mr. Thorne, didn’t you give us all vacation time and tell us not to come back this month?” The security chief esponded in confusion.
When the hell did I give you vacation?!” Callan was nearly bursting with rage.
A week ago,” the security chief respectfully answered. “You messaged me about it.”
You said you were taking Mrs. Thorne on vacation and gave all the security guards and household staff a month off.”
As he spoke, the chief sent Callan screenshots of the supposed vacation approval messages.
Receiving the screenshots, Callan was stunned: he had never given the security team time off–these messages weren’t from him!

“I didn’t send those messages!” Callan roared. “Someone hacked my account! For something this major, didn’t it occur to you to call and confirm?”
“I did confirm,” the chief defended himself. “I called you, but you weren’t available. Miss Zara answered and confirmed several times that the message was genuine. She specifically told us to withdraw that very evening.”
This had all been Zara’s scheme.
The security guards had kept the mansion impenetrable, and without removing them, the kidnappers Zara had hired couldn’t abduct Lila.
So she’d secretly used Callan’s phone to message the security chief about the vacation, dismissed all the guards, then arranged for people to enter the mansion and kidnap Lila.
After completing her plan, she deleted all chat records and call logs, leaving Callan completely unaware.
Now, a week after Lila’s abduction, Callan was finally glimpsing the tip of the iceberg.
“Get your ass back here NOW,” Callan snarled, his volcanic rage finally erupting. “And drag Zara from the suburban villa too–tie her up and brought to me!”
