Chapter 3
That evening, Lila received new diamond roses from Callan.
Made from the same precious blood–red diamonds, these roses were larger and more beautiful than before, but Lila wanted nothing to do with them.
She immediately threw them into the swimming pool without a second glance.
But unexpectedly, Zara jumped into the pool right after the roses.
She acted as if she was trying to retrieve them, but the pool water was crystal clear and the roses were large and conspicuous. If she truly wanted to retrieve them, it would have taken just minutes, but Zara stayed in the pool for nearly half an hour.
She only emerged when Callan came downstairs, dripping wet.
“Aunt Lila, please don’t be angry anymore, okay?” Zara held the newly retrieved roses, looking at Lila with a pleading expression. “I don’t want the roses Cal gave me yesterday. You can have both sets. Please don’t be mad at Cal anymore.”
Zara was soaked from head to toe. She wore a white dress that was now transparent and streaked with blood.
Callan’s expression instantly turned alarming. He rushed downstairs, quickly removed his jacket, and wrapped it
around Zara.
“Have you lost your mind? Jumping into a pool during your period?!” Callan scolded her with a dark face. “You’ve always had a weak constitution and severe cramps. You know you can’t be in cold water!”
Zara’s face was deathly pale. She collapsed weakly into Callan’s arms and whimpered, “Cal, don’t scold me. I just didn’t want you and Aunt Lila to fight.”
“I hate seeing you upset. I just want you to be happy.”
Callan’s dark eyes immediately filled with concern, and when he looked at Lila, there was a hint of reproach. “Lila, your jealousy needs limits. Zara is practically still a child. Why are you competing with her?”
With that, Callan lifted Zara into his arms and took her to the hospital.
While Lila’s body began trembling uncontrollably.
He kept saying Zara was just a child, yet he knew exactly when her period was, knew she suffered from severe cramps, knew she couldn’t be in cold water…
Lila suddenly remembered how Callan used to accurately track her menstrual cycle too. She often forgot her own schedule, but he would prepare pads and heating pads before her period arrived, and he would constantly monitor

her, forbidding her from eating anything cold.
But now, his attention was entirely on Zara, and he’d completely forgotten that this was also Lila’s time of the month
That night, Zara posted on Instagram: “I really am Cal’s pampered rose, Just a little menstrual pain, and he rented out the entire hospital wing and massaged my belly all night long.”
Lila stared at these words, feeling like needles were being driven into her eyes.
Her cramps were severe too. In the past, during her period, Callan would hold her on his lap, soothing her with gentle words while massaging her lower abdomen with his warm hands.
But now, despite her face being pale with pain, Lila’s bedside remained empty.
Callan’s arms now held someone else. His love for her had never been exclusive…
The pain intensified, and Lila curled up in bed like a wounded animal, clutching the blanket. Cold sweat beaded on her forehead as she drifted into a fitful sleep.
She had barely fallen asleep when a commotion outside startled her awake.
Lila struggled to open her eyes and heard someone shouting: “Fire! The rose garden is on fire! Someone help!”
