Throughout the night, Zara’s screams echoed through the mansion.
Callan kept his word. Anyone who had hurt Lila would receive retribution multiplied many times over, so that night, his treatment of Zara was even more brutal and inhumane.
Zara had manipulated him into shattering Lila’s five fingers, so he shattered all ten of Zara’s fingers plus all ten toes, completely crippling her.
That wasn’t enough–he also extracted each of her teeth, one by one, then personally used a steel needle to sew shut the mouth that had spread so many lies.
Of course, her lower body was sewn up too. Every bit of suffering Lila had endured that night, he inflicted on Zara multiple times over.
Finally, Zara was tortured beyond recognition, unable even to cry out.
Callan cast her a cold glance and gave his orders: “Lock her in the dungeon. Keep her under close watch–don’t let her die! After I find Lila, I’ll deal with her more thoroughly.”
“Yes, sir!” The guards respectfully acknowledged his orders and dragged Zara to the dungeon.
With Zara dealt with, Callan’s mind was now completely focused on Lila.
He needed to find her immediately and explain everything.
He was a victim too–that night he had no idea!
Without hesitation, Callan summoned all his men and ordered them to search extensively for Lila’s whereabouts.
“I don’t care what methods you use–find Lila within three days!” Callan barked. “My patience is limited. You know the consequences if you fail!”
The Thorne family’s influence throughout the city was absolute–finding one person shouldn’t be difficult. When Zara had purposely gone missing, Callan’s men had located her within a day.
But in their search for Lila, Callan’s men hit roadblocks at every turn!
As Lila’s information had been completely erased by the military, they couldn’t find a single lead about her.
After three days of fruitless searching, Callan flew into a rage, and all his men were severely punished.
But no matter how brutal Callan’s punishments were, his men simply couldn’t find what wasn’t there. They had exhausted all possibilities.
