Chapter 10
Soon, the security chief returned with all the guards and Zara, who was still in her nightwear.
Callan’s expression was terrifying, with the entire mansion enveloped in a crushing atmosphere. He coldly regarded Zara: “Explain. Why did you use my phone to secretly message Marcus, telling him to leave with all the security guards?”
“Cal, what are you talking about? I don’t understand,” Zara feigned innocent confusion. “I didn’t message Uncle Marcus or tell him to leave with all the guards.”
“Drop the act!” Callan slammed his fist on the table, cracking the white jade surface. “Don’t you understand? Lila is missing! She’s been kidnapped!”
While the security team was bringing Zara, Callan had checked the home surveillance footage.
The cameras had captured Lila’s entire abduction.
Seeing Lila being taken away, Callan felt a pain so intense he could barely breathe. He desperately wished he could go back in time to save the woman he loved most.
But he couldn’t. He could only watch helplessly as Lila was dragged away.
In his fury, Callan grabbed Zara by the throat, his eyes blood–red: “Tell me! Are you working with my enemies? Did you plan all this?”
“Who are your accomplices? Who kidnapped Lila?!”
Zara cried pitifully: “Cal, I didn’t do it, I swear!”
“Lila is your wife, but she’s also my aunt! Why would I work with outsiders to kidnap my own aunt?”
“Cal, you have to believe me. I never touched your phone and never received any calls from Marcus.”
“He’s framing me–he’s the real traitor! He must have conspired with others to kidnap Aunt Lila!”
This argument was plausible. Marcus was also highly suspicious, as he had dismissed all the mansion’s guards.
Callan released Zara. His expression fluctuated between anger and uncertainty, clearly on the verge of explosion.
In this tense moment, the doorbell rang. A special forces soldier entered carrying two folders.
“Is Mr. Callan Thorne here?” the soldier said. “I have two confidential documents. My commanding officer specifically instructed that you must sign for them personally.”
The Thorne family wielded enormous power and did have military connections, so Callan forced down his rage

and grimly stepped forward to sign for the documents.
After signing, he opened the folders and froze in place.
One folder contained the golden heart–shaped pendant he had given Lila, while the other held a divorce certificate!

Chapter 11
Two weeks earlier, Lila had personally submitted the signed divorce agreement to the court.
Now that the divorce certificate was finally processed, and because Lila was currently on a classified national
mission, the military had collected the certificate on her behalf.
Lila kept her copy of the divorce certificate and asked the military to deliver Callan’s copy to him.
‘Just deliver it and leave,” Lila had instructed. “Don’t mention anything about me to him.”
‘I don’t want to see him again or have any connection with him.”
in truth, once Lila entered the military base, all information about her had been erased from the outside world.
Whether Callan received this divorce certificate or not no longer mattered.
But Lila wanted a clean, permanent break from Callan. She not only never wanted to see him again, but legally, she
lidn’t want to remain his wife.
So she ultimately decided to have the military deliver the divorce certificate to Callan.
With the divorce finalized, they would be completely done with each other.
The moment he saw the divorce certificate, Callan could hardly believe his eyes. He grabbed the special forces oldier and demanded furiously: “What the fuck is this? When did Lila and I get divorced?”
Who gave you this? Where is Lila? What gives you the right to issue us divorce certificates? We are NOT divorced!
We will NEVER be divorced!”
Our marriage ends only in death, never in divorce!”
No matter how much Callan raged, the delivery soldier had only one response: “I’m sorry, sir. My only job was to leliver these items to you. I know nothing about anything else.”
Jnable to get any answers, Callan could only vent his frustration by smashing things around him.
After destroying nearly the entire living room, he finally calmed down enough to examine the second item the
soldier had delivered.
That folder contained the golden heart–shaped pendant he had given Lila.
Inside the pendant was the pinhole camera he had specially installed–his “eye” that allowed him to monitor Lila’s
every move.
Perhaps the camera contained answers to all his questions.

“Someone bring a projector!” Callan commanded.
He needed to see what the camera had recorded, to understand why Lila had suddenly disappeared and where this damned divorce certificate had come from!
Soon, his security team brought a projector, and Callan ordered them to display the camera footage.
As soon as the footage appeared, Callan saw Lila being kidnapped that night.
His heart instantly contracted with pain. Although he had already seen this once in the house surveillance footage, he still felt murderous rage, wanting to tear apart the men who had taken Lila.
But quickly, something unexpected happened in the footage.
Callan watched as the kidnappers put a black cloth over Lila’s head and brought her before him.
It was at this moment that Callan finally recognized the kidnappers‘ faces–they were Zara’s bodyguards!
