Seeing her reddened eyes, Caleb’s face immediately darkened. “We’ve been married for
five years, and you can’t even do this right? Or are you upset with Seraphina and deliberately targeting her?”
I tried to explain, but he was already anxiously cupping Seraphina’s hand. “Does it hurt? Wait here, I’ll bandage it right away.”
I suddenly felt utterly disheartened. Out of sight, out of mind. I left the villa and checked
into a hotel.
But the day before my departure, I realized I’d forgotten my documents at home and had no choice but to go back.
The villa was hosting a party. Caleb stood beside Seraphina, a perfect couple, surrounded by guests.
Some guests whispered. “Mr. Turner is so good to his wife! Look at Seraphina’s designer clothes, that must be hundreds of thousands!”
Someone in the know corrected him. “Are you blind? The woman who just walked in is
Mrs. Turner!”
The first person looked embarrassed. “Oh, really? Her clothes look like they cost barely anything, doesn’t really look like it-”

I ignored the stares, grabbed my documents, and tried to leave. But Seraphina suddenly shrieked, “My bracelet is gone! Lily was the only one in the room just now, she must have
taken it!”
Caleb patiently coaxed her, “Look again, Lily wouldn’t do something like that.”
But Seraphina was relentless. “I’ve looked everywhere! Who else could it be? That’s the

bracelet your mother gave me, she must have stolen it!”
I couldn’t be bothered to respond to such groundless accusations and started to walk out. To my shock, Seraphina suddenly clutched her waist and began to cough violently.
Caleb rushed to support her, looking at me with a pained expression. “Lily, why don’t you
just prove yourself?”
A chill ran through me. “How else do you want me to prove it?” I was wearing only a
simple dress; whether the bracelet was on me was obvious.
Seraphina shrieked, “You have to search her! The bracelet must be hidden in her dress!”
Security guards stepped forward and started to pull at my dress. I frantically stumbled backward, humiliated, but I couldn’t resist their brute force. From start to finish, Caleb
merely patiently consoled Seraphina, making no move to stop them.
Soon, my dress was ripped to shreds, and my skin was covered in bloody scratches. Finally, I was shoved into the center of the crowd, left with only my underwear barely covering me. A tremendous wave of humiliation washed over me, and I clenched my teeth
so hard they ached.
“Is that enough?! Did you see clearly?! I didn’t take it!”
Seraphina was still mumbling, “Who knows if you hid it somewhere else…”
Only then did Caleb frown. “Lily, everyone’s watching. There’s no need to make such a scene.” He added, “It was a misunderstanding, just go back and change your clothes.”
I stared intently at Caleb. After a long moment, I could only manage a mocking smile.
“Fine. You’ll get what you want very soon.”
He didn’t have time to decipher the meaning of my words. Seraphina was already clinging to Caleb like a snake, constantly whining. Caleb immediately shifted his attention back to
her.
I returned to my room, numbly staring at my reflection in the mirror. I could only brainwash myself, over and over: *Soon, I’ll be free of all this.*

As I stood up, I heard voices from the next room.
“Good that you found it, Seraphina. Next time, don’t just leave it on the vanity.”
“Got it! This bracelet is so pretty. I really hope I have a little princess.”
“No matter if you have a boy or a girl, I’ll love them. Come here, let’s get to know each
other better, sweetie.”
“You’re so bad… be gentle.”
The sounds that followed were indescribable. Even though I was completely heartbroken, my chest ached with a myriad of pains. So, the always composed and reserved Caleb had such a passionate side too.
But I didn’t expect Seraphina to come knocking on my door. She tossed a stack of photos
at me, her smile incredibly mocking. “Lily, I never knew you’d go through so much to have Caleb’s baby?”
To my humiliation, I realized the photos were secretly taken at the party that day. And
.some close–ups were zoomed in on my stomach scars and the countless needle marks!
“You’re not naive enough to think that not getting pregnant was Caleb’s problem, are
you?”
“Let me tell you, he simply didn’t want a child with *you*! Otherwise, why did I get pregnant on the first try?”
“Only a clingy woman like you would shamelessly go through IVF. You have no idea how disgusting Caleb finds you like this!”
I finally lost control. “Shut up!”
But Seraphina suddenly clutched her stomach and fell backward. “Ah! Lily! Don’t push
me!”
She groaned in pain, clutching her stomach. This scene unfolded just as Caleb rushed in. Seeing Seraphina’s state, he couldn’t control himself and slapped me hard across the face, roaring, “Lily! What the hell is wrong with you?!”

My lower abdomen slammed hard against the stairs, making me lose my footing and collapse. I was sweating profusely from the pain. Even more terrifying, the next second, a
shocking red streamed down my legs.
After the miscarriage, I hadn’t been able to rest well. But Caleb’s rage hadn’t subsided. He
scooped up Seraphina and ran out, not forgetting to warn me, “You better pray Seraphina is okay! I’ll deal with you when I get back.”
It took me half a day to struggle to my feet. Seeing the visa confirmation on my phone, I clenched my fists.
Caleb, you won’t get the chance.
At the airport, Caleb sent a text. “Bring your medical records to the hospital and get checked with Seraphina.”
I didn’t hesitate to turn off my phone. Then I sent Caleb a package.
It contained the cremation consent form for our daughter, and a copy of my marriage certificate with Owen.
Tossing my SIM card into the trash, I walked towards Owen, who had been waiting for a long time. “Let’s go.“”
