Chapter 4
I shrugged it off. “Whatever. Good luck with that.”
Eloise snorted. “Thaddeus is the only heir to the Hawthorne empire. What could possibly go wrong?”
“I’ll be voting all my shares for Thaddeus too.”
Thaddeus looked at her like she’d hung the moon. “Ellie, I knew my judgment was perfect.”
Watching these two made me sick to my stomach. “The hospital said you took the placenta. Just give
me that back and I’ll leave.”
It was all I had left of my baby.
“That belonged to the Hawthorne family. Why should you get it?”
My eyes burned as I stared at Thaddeus. “You refused to acknowledge the baby’s bloodline, and now
I just want to let my child rest in peace.”
Thaddeus looked down. “The placenta’s gone. Just leave, or I’m calling security.”
I completely lost it. “What do you mean it’s gone? What did you do with my baby?”
I was going insane. I grabbed a knife, ready to take them both down with me.
Thaddeus shoved me away hard while protecting her. “Vivienne! The baby’s gone. We used the placenta to help Ellie recover her strength. Do you really have to be so damn petty?”
I stared at him in complete devastation. “Thaddeus, that was our child!”
“Butler, get this crazy woman out of here!”
I laughed bitterly. “Thaddeus, Eloise–I’m going to make you both pay for what you did to my baby!”
The look in my eyes actually scared him.
Eloise just laughed. “Vivienne, you’re just some country nobody. How dare you talk to Thaddeus like
that?”

Chapter 4
Thaddeus snapped out of it and said confidently, “I’m just making her cool off for a few days. She’ll get over it and come crawling back.”
At the shareholders‘ meeting, he was so sure he’d secured the CEO position.
Then out of nowhere, Westbrook Corporation swooped in and bought up all the scattered shares, gaining 51% and complete control of Hawthorne Group.
An assistant simply announced: “From now on, the CEO of Hawthorne Group is Vivienne Blackwood.”
When they heard my name, their entire bodies went rigid.
Only Eloise remained clueless. “Thaddeus, honey, it’s probably just someone with the same name. Vivienne grew up in the sticks–how could she possibly afford to buy out your family?”
Finally, I walked through the doors with Garrett on my arm.
Garrett’s deep voice filled the room: “Let me introduce the boss of Westbrook Corporation. From now on, when she speaks, nobody dares to argue.‘
Under everyone’s stunned gaze, I smiled coldly.
“I told you I’d make you pay.”
