Chapter 3
When I woke up in the hospital, he was crying crocodile tears. “Viv, I’m so sorry, but we can’t keep the baby.”
“The bloodline isn’t pure. I can’t let you have a child that’ll cause controversy–it would hurt both our families‘ reputations.”
I looked at him with the last shred of hope I had left. “Thaddeus, the public doesn’t know whose baby this is, but you do, don’t you?”
“This is your child. How can you be so heartless?”
He turned away. “Viv, if you want kids, we can have them later.”
“This is my baby, Thaddeus. You don’t get to decide.”
Despite my protests, he forced me into the operating room anyway.
With the last of my strength, I said, “If you take my baby away, I will hate you forever.”
“You’ll regret this.”
He hesitated for just a second after hearing my words, but even with my murderous glare, he still stole my child from me.
After the anesthesia wore off, pain shot through my lower body. I could barely make out voices outside my door.
‘What if my sister can’t handle losing the baby and tries to get revenge on us?”
‘Don’t worry, Ellie. She’s got no power, no connections. She can’t touch us.”
‘Besides, whether you want a boy or a girl later, we’ll just make her have another one. If she wants to stay in high society, she’ll have to do what I say.”
Hearing Thaddeus’s reassurance, Eloise melted into his arms all touched and grateful.
‘Oh, Thaddeus, you’re so good to me.”

Chapter 3
Turns out when you’re that devastated, you go completely numb. I just lay there listening to their
conversation with zero emotion.
But thinking about my unborn child made the hatred burn white–hot inside me.
When I got back to Thaddeus’s mansion, I found my stuff already packed and dumped outside.
Eloise strutted around like she owned the place. “Sorry, sis, but I’m Thaddeus’s wife now. You need
to move out ASAP.”
Thaddeus wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. “Viv, I know losing the baby hurts, but
Ellie gets queasy around blood. You should probably go.”
I stared them both down. “You really think that shareholders‘ meeting is going to go smoothly the
day after tomorrow?”
Suddenly, panic flashed in Thaddeus’s eyes. “What do you know, Viv?”
I let out a cold laugh. They wanted my shares so badly, wanted to become the biggest shareholders in the Blackwood company.
All so Thaddeus could smoothly inherit his family’s CEO position.
