Chapter 4
My blind date was a complete gentleman.
He offered to let me pick the time while he’d handle choosing the place.
The thing is, when my parents were going on about this whole setup, I wasn’t listening to a damn word they said.
So now I knew absolutely nothing about this guy I was supposed to meet.
I got to the restaurant early and found myself pacing outside like an idiot.
What if I couldn’t recognize him? How fucking awkward would that be?
While I was doing my nervous walk back and forth, I bumped straight into someone.
I looked up.
First thing I saw was this perfectly tailored suit.
Then I looked higher, and… Jesus Christ.
This guy’s face was so ridiculously perfect it was almost offensive.
And he was looking down at me with this gentle expression.
“Why aren’t you going in?”
Those lips–God, they looked so soft–moved as he spoke, and I…
I actually swallowed hard.
Then immediately felt like a complete moron.
Because I knew exactly who this was.
Harlan Cross.
The most notorious power player in our social circle.
I’d seen his name countless times on Garrick’s list of dream clients.
Word was he was ruthless as hell, cold as ice, and impossible to get close to.
We’d never managed to close a single deal with him.

I immediately started backing away to give him space.
“Oh shit, sorry, sorry! I’m waiting for someone and I was totally spaced out. My bad–please, go ahead…”
But the guy just smiled.
“Miss Storm.”
I looked up, confused.
How the hell did he know my name?
His eyes crinkled with amusement.
“Is there any chance… that I’m the person you’re waiting for?”
