Chapter 5
With my decision made, I grabbed my phone and dialed my personal attorney.
“Mason, I need divorce papers prepared immediately. Make sure the asset division is airtight–I
want every penny I’m entitled to.”
Shocked by my sudden decision, Mason cautiously verified:
“Ms. Sullivan, are you absolutely certain? Divorce is a significant step.”
“I want those papers in three days. Not a day longer.”
“Of course. And regarding Mr. Hampton-”
“Don’t notify him. This is my decision.”
After hanging up, I opened my laptop and pulled up every file related to business dealings with Hampton Industries.
Five years of marriage had meant giving Hampton Industries countless advantages and resources.
Time to take it all back.
Next, I issued direct orders to Sullivan Enterprises‘ overseas headquarters:
“Notify all partners to immediately suspend all collaborative projects with Hampton Industries. Cite ‘technical adjustments‘ as the reason.”
“Yes, Ms. Sullivan.”
The response was crisp and unquestioning–absolute obedience to my command.
That had always been the Sullivan way of doing business.
Then came the core technical teams Sullivan had provided to Hampton Industries.
I instructed HR to recall all those talents back to Sullivan Enterprises with double their current
salaries.

This flurry of activity caught my father’s attention. His call came through almost immediately.
The moment I answered, I cut to the chase.
“Dad, I’m divorcing Ryker.”
After a brief silence, my father’s voice came through: “You’re certain about this?”
“Absolutely.”
“Good. I won’t ask for reasons. Your mother and I trust your judgment and support your decision.”
“Since you’ve made up your mind, don’t hesitate. Sullivans don’t drag things out.”
Within two days, I’d silently extracted everything.
Funds from joint accounts were systematically transferred, ensuring Ryker could no longer access
them.
And he remained completely oblivious to it all.
During these two days, Brianna’s social media accounts had been unusually active, daily posts showing her accompanying Ryker to business events.
New car, new watch, new office–always captioned with “Grateful for Mr. Hampton’s mentorship.”
I’d glanced at it once on the first day before blocking her.
That trash wasn’t worth a second look.
Instead, I channeled all my energy into preparing for my new company.
My phone suddenly rang–Ryker calling.
“Mila, it’s my father’s birthday today. He wants us at the family estate.”
“If you don’t want to come, I’ll go alone.”
His voice was ice–cold and distant.
I glanced at the divorce papers ready on my desk, my lips curving into a slight smile:

“I’ll be there.”
It was time to lay everything out in the open and end this.
