The people were surprised that Leon was interested in the daughter of the Yates family.
Leon’s voice wasn’t loud, but it wasn’t soft either. Everyone around could hear him clearly.
Even not far away, Waldo heard every single word. Suddenly, his handsome face darkened.
Garbisch was stunned at first, but after a moment of daze, his expression sank, and his voice turned stern.
He said, “Your Highness, matters of marriage have always followed the will of parents and the word of matchmakers. Jessica is still an unmarried girl. Your Highness, don’t jest at her expense.”
Jessica appeared as if she had been frightened, quietly hiding behind Garbisch.
That timid demeanor, paired with her breathtaking beauty, made every man present feel a sudden surge of protectiveness toward her.
The cold, half–face mask Leon stood before this fragile girl. He did resemble a wolf about to pounce.
But Leon looked at Garbisch and suddenly dropped his teasing tone, asking calmly, “General Garbisch, does your team need my help?”
His voice wasn’t loud, just enough for Garbisch and a few others to hear.
Garbisch was dazed for a while, truly unable to make sense of this prince’s intent.
He could only shake his head. “No need, but thank you for Your Highness’s consideration.”
Then Leon said, “I’m serious, my friend.”
He turned and walked away. Garbisch stood there, completely stunned, frozen like a statue.
Leon just called him “my friend.” There were only a few people whom Leon would call friends. Yet…
“Garbisch, Aunt Alivia is here.” Jessica tugged his sleeve gently.
Garbisch turned back and looked at Alivia, still dazed.
He said, “Jessica, you and Prince Leon…”
“Have nothing to do with each other.” Jessica quietly pinched his arm.
Garbisch finally snapped out of it. He looked at Alivia, who had just leapt off her horse and quickly went up to greet her. “Aunt Alivia!”
Alivia nodded, then walked up to Jessica and greeted, “I’m here!”
Jessica said, “Thank you, Aunt Alivia.”
Everyone around could now clearly see that Yates House had finally gathered all five members.
Most people didn’t recognize Alivia, but a few generals did.
She was the wife of the third son of the Grover House, and she used to follow her husband onto the battlefield. Under Celine’s command, she was once a fierce warrior.
However, few had seen her actual skills in person, and no one truly knew how good she was at riding and archery.
But even if Alivia was incredibly capable, this team was clearly uneven.

They had two girls who didn’t even know martial arts. Honestly, there was nothing promising about this team.
Alivia glanced at Monica and Nolan, and her brow furrowed slightly. “Jessica, they’re not good enough.”
Monica didn’t care. After all, she was just a maid.
But Nolan’s face turned bright red. Being judged by others was not pleasant. Still, he wasn’t angry. He only blamed his own lack of talent.
Jessica gently patted Alivia’s hand and smiled. “Don’t worry, Aunt Alivia. Have some coffee first.”
After Alivia sat down, Garbisch pulled Jessica aside and spoke in a low voice. “Jessica, you and Monica can’t join. I’m afraid even Aunt Alivia’s reputation will be dragged down.”
If they lost too badly, even Alivia’s name might suffer.
He didn’t mind embarrassing himself, but he couldn’t let others be harmed too.
Yet Jessica simply smiled. “Don’t worry. Just wait a little longer.”
