The King’s decision to postpone the Autumn Hunt was clearly for the sake of Waldo,
After all, Waldo was recently injured at Vrahmont Mount and needed time to recuperate.
“So that means His Majesty still intends to let Pilnce Waldo carry the Royal Guard token. In his heart, Prince Waldo still holds more weight than Prines Leon,” Jessica said, prompting Garbisch to fall into deep thought.
After a long silence, Garbisch finally said, “Even though Prince Leon secured the Northern Borderlands and is now flovigrad’s greatest war herd, it seems the King still minds the fact that his face was ruined.”
After all, from ancient times till now, all emperors cared about their dignity and appearance.
At the end of the day, if an emperor had to constantly wear a mask, it would indeed damage the royal image.
Garbisch said, “But Jessica, our relationship with Waldo House has now reached rock bottom. It’s going to be very hard to recover from that.”
After the battle at Vrahmont Mount, Waldo’s image as the War God had already taken a hit. Once the Autumn Hunt was held and the public saw that the Yates family and Waldo House were no longer aligned, his reputation would suffer even more.
Their relationship truly could not return to what it was.
Garbisch said, “If Prince Waldo regains power in the future, our family might find it difficult to survive in Capitalia.”
“So what you’re suggesting is… we should start siding with Prince Leon?” Jessica looked at Garbisch.
But Garbisch only looked back at her. “Jessica, wha

think?”
She replied, “I saw His Majesty the other day. His health really didn’t look good. It seems his condition is quite serious.”
“Jessica?” Garbisch was startled and quickly exchanged a glance with Nolan.
Nolan and Monica immediately stepped outside the room to keep guard at the door.
Jessica’s expression didn’t change much as she continued, “The King’s breath still seems stable, but he didn’t look well. It must be an old injury from his youth, which has started to flare up frequently in recent years.”
“So you’re saying the matter of choosing a crown prince has become urgent?” Garbisch had also seen the King recently, but he hadn’t noticed any issues
with his health at all.
The King had spoken as if he were in perfect health. He seemed strong

Still, Garbisch trusted Jessica without question. If Jessica said the King wasn’t well, then he certainly wasn’t.
“Jessica, then what should we do next?” The Autumn Hunt was likely to be the biggest turning point at this stage.
Whoever ended up with the Royal Guard token this year would have a major advantage in the matter of succession.
“Prince Leon’s disfigured face is still a major obstacle to his ascension.” Jessica paused before saying, “Garbisch, I’ll prepare some medicine over the next two days. You go deliver it to Prince Leon.”
Garbisch asked, “So you’ve decided. We’re siding with Prince Leon?”
Jessica replied, “Not necessarily. But at the very least, we shouldn’t offend him.” This was about self–preservation, not allegiance.
And so, that day, Garbisch made a trip to Leon House, but he soon returned with the medicine untouched.

“His Highness said you should deliver the medicine to him yourself tomorrow to show your sincerity.” Garbisch looked helpless.
Jessica was just as exasperated. He knew Leon was being difficult again.
She gave a cold snort and put the medicine away. “Let him be. If he doesn’t want it, then fine. I’ve already made my stance clear, if he gains power in the future, at least he shouldn’t come after us first.”
Jessica thought to herself, ‘Suit yourself.’
She didn’t want to deliver the medicine to Leon. They were not married, and rumors would fly in no time.
The date of the Autumn Hunt drew closer and closer. Meanwhile, Waldo House was still shrouded in gloom.
