Waldo thought Jessica would throw a tantrum, considering how wronged she must feel.
But to his surprise, she just watched him in silence, neither crying nor making a scene. Her calm demeanor made him feet inexplicably gulley.
“Jessica, you’ve seen Priscilla’s temper. She refuses to share a husband with a
s anyone, so i was planning to break off our engagement,” he admitted.
Waldo know these words would hurt her, but if she had only listened to him, he wouldn’t have been forced to say such things, Her stubbornness was the real issue–he never meant to cause her pain.
“Jessica, the fact that Priscilla is willing to share her life with you is already a huge concession on her part. If you don’t agree, I’m afraid our marriage will have to be canceled.”

She didn’t respond right away, just continued to look at him quietly.

“Then why even marry y me?” Jessica asked, her voice laced with irony. “Are you planning to marry me and leave me a widow while I’m still alive?”
