My Arranged 6

My Arranged 6

Chapter 6

After marrying Liam, Sarah and Marcus gave us a large villa in the city center as a wedding gift. It was perfectly located- peaceful despite being in the heart of the bustling city.

When Liam and I drove there, we found two people standing at the villa’s entrance: Alan and Lola.

I got out of the car and walked toward them with Liam.

I asked, “What are you two doing at my front door?”

Lola timidly hid behind Alan, putting on a delicate act as if I had frightened her.

Alan’s protective instincts were instantly triggered. “What do you mean ‘your’ house? This house was given to me by my mom before. I should be asking what you’re doing here!”

At that moment, the villa’s butler, John Sims, saw us and came forward to greet us: “Mr. Grant, Mrs. Grant, you’re here.”

Before I could take a step, Alan grabbed Lola and tried to barge inside, but John stopped him. “Sir, please don’t enter someone else’s residence without permission.”

Alan said, “John, what’s wrong with you? This house is clearly mine. Didn’t I just come here a few days ago? Keep this up and I’ll fire you!”

“This house no longer has anything to do with you, and we’ve already had the locks changed. If you insist on forcing your way in, that would be trespassing. You also no longer have the authority to fire anyone.” Liam spoke calmly, then turned to John. “You did well. I’ll have someone give you a raise later.”

Alan had been a rich kid for over twenty years, with everyone around him showing him respect, which had long made him believe he was truly something special.

Now, suddenly being rejected so mercilessly, he was momentarily at a loss, standing there stunned.

Lola spoke softly, looking at Liam with pitiful eyes: “Ms. Roberts, Mr. Grant, I’m truly sorry. We really didn’t mean to disturb you, it’s just…”

་་

Liam cut off her performance with one sentence: “Since you know that, why don’t you leave already?”

I smiled lightly and walked into the villa’s front yard, arm in arm with Liam.

Alan could only watch helplessly as we went inside, leaving him and Lola shut out.

There was a swing in the yard, and the sunlight was just right— perfect weather for swinging.

Soon, Marcus and Sarah arrived as well.

We had arranged to have dinner together at the new house.

Alan rushed up to them like he’d seen his saviors, greeting them with a smile: “Mom, Dad, you’re here.”

He pointed at me, who was eating fruit and swinging in the yard: “This house was originally bought by you for my wedding, but now they won’t let me in and have changed all the locks.”

“Let you in for what?” Marcus frowned. “This house was always meant to be a wedding home for my son. Now that you’re no longer our son, you still want to stick around?”

Alan was clearly devastated.

At this point, Lola spoke up: “How can you be like this? No matter what, he’s been by your side for over twenty years, and you’ve invested so much effort in raising him. Even without blood relations, you have feelings for each other.”

Marcus said coldly, “Yes, we did invest a lot of effort. And what was the result? He ran the branch company into the ground, spent his days gallivanting around with women, throwing money away recklessly, and constantly disappearing. Looking back now, all that investment was a complete waste!”

Alan hung his head in shame, unable to say a word.

Actually, he hadn’t been that bad before-just a bit stupid.

He truly became worthless when it came time for college applications. The family had hoped he would attend a local university, and he had agreed verbally, but then he applied to a school far from home-one that happened to be in the same city as Lola’s school.

After breaking free from Marcus and Sarah’s supervision, he completely let himself go, indulging in eating, drinking, and partying, barely studying seriously at all.

After graduation, Marcus and Sarah, considering him their “biological son,” still entrusted him with managing a branch company and arranged capable subordinates to assist him. But he would disappear at the drop of a hat, traveling everywhere with Lola.

He had always assumed someone would always be there to bail him out.

Sarah glanced at Lola and smiled: “You two are true love, right?”

Caught off guard by this sudden question, Lola quickly nodded: “Yes.”

“Since it’s true love, you should be able to overcome any obstacles. What’s this little test compared to that? Being together is what matters most, right?” She said this while turning to Alan. “Besides, your girlfriend isn’t materialistic, so

you don’t need to worry about not having a house, car, or money.”

After saying this, Sarah walked toward me with a bright smile: “Evelyn, I saw these two bags while shopping and thought they’d suit your style perfectly. Do you like them?”

“Thank you.” I naturally accepted the gifts without hesitation.

Lola stood at the gate, glaring at me furiously, her eyes practically boring holes through me.
