My Arranged 3

My Arranged 3

Chapter 3

The wedding was over, and the guests had all departed.

Liam extended his hand toward me, the ring on his slender fingers glinting under the lights. “Shall we go, Mrs. Grant?”

I gently took his hand.

Back then, we were on debate teams at different universities, and I lost to him in several confrontations. I used to hate him so

much that I’d dream about debating with him. Now, here I was, married to him. Fate truly works in mysterious ways.

Marcus and Sarah stood behind us, wearing satisfied smiles.

“Mom, wait a minute. About Lola and me…” Alan hurried after

Only then did Sarah seem to remember his existence.

“Oh well, if you two want to be together, go ahead. No one’s stopping you.” She shrugged.

“Thank you for your blessing.” Lola’s eyes welled up with tears of gratitude.

Alan also breathed a sigh of relief. “Lola, you’re going to be my wife from now on. You don’t need to be so formal.”

Lola was about to respond.

“Don’t say that.” Sarah’s smile faded. “Alan isn’t my biological son. Whatever choices you make have nothing to do with me.”

With that, she took my hand and looked at me with a smile. “Besides, you need to see clearly-my son’s wife is Evelyn.”

Lola’s face turned pale.

Alan shielded her behind him, looking at Liam with hostility, his gaze complex and resentful as he sized him up. “Since you’ve found your real son, you should at least tell me who my biological parents are.”

Liam said coolly, “They’ll be coming to take you home soon.”

Hope sparked in both Lola’s and Alan’s eyes.

Liam had striking features and a noble bearing—he was the most suited man I’d ever seen for wearing a suit. With his appearance, his family background was naturally either wealthy or prestigious.

Lola grabbed Alan’s hand, her face beaming with joy. “It’s okay, Alan. No matter how long it takes, I’ll stay with you. Your family will be here soon.”

Hearing this, I let out a cold laugh.

Lola had probably already decided that Alan’s biological parents were from some wealthy family, and she was thrilled beyond

measure.

Liam asked me, “Mrs. Grant, do you want to keep watching this drama unfold, or come home with me?”

I said, “No rush. Stay and watch the show with me for a bit.”

Just then, two cars came into view. One was a pure black Maybach, and the other was a somewhat tacky green taxi.

“They’re here, they’re here!” Alan immediately took Lola’s hand and walked toward the Maybach.

However, the person who stepped out of the Maybach was our family driver.

He walked straight past the two of them and approached my parents: “Mr. Roberts, Mrs. Roberts, please get in the car.”

He ignored them both as if they were invisible.

I almost felt embarrassed for them.

Sarah pointed to the taxi and said, “Alan, your biological parents are over there by the taxi.”

The taxi door opened, and out came a plainly dressed elderly couple with mostly gray hair and slightly hunched figures.

A thin boy was with them, whose features bore some

resemblance to Alan.

The three of them rushed toward Alan and Lola as soon as they got out of the car.

“My son, we’ve missed you so much…” They hugged Alan tightly, tears streaming down their faces.

“You must have missed us too, right? How did we never notice you were switched at birth? We should have realized it sooner…”

Alan stiffly allowed them to embrace him.

Lola asked in disbelief, “Are you really Alan’s biological parents?”

Alan’s birth mother, Hazel Grant, excitedly grabbed her hands: “Yes! You must be my son’s girlfriend, right?”

Lola forced a smile: “That’s right.”

Hazel immediately stuffed a red plastic bag into her arms: “These are eggs from our chickens at home. Consider it a meeting gift for you.”

“What? Eggs?” Lola looked incredulous. “That’s not necessary…”

Hazel said, “Oh, just take them. We’re going to be family from

11

now on, don’t be shy. I know you city folks can’t get these, so I brought them specially.”

While I should have been touched, I had to admit the scene was

rather comical.

I turned to look and found Liam’s expression unusually cold, as if he didn’t recognize those three people at all.

Noticing my gaze, his expression softened slightly, and he smiled faintly: “Have you seen enough? Shouldn’t we be heading home?”

I said, “Let’s go home then. There’s no point watching too much of this kind of thing.”

Marcus said to Alan, “You should go back with your biological parents. We’ve packed up all your belongings from your room, and I’ll arrange for someone to send them over later.”

Meanwhile, Hazel was still chatting with Lola: “When are you two getting your marriage license? When you come back to our hometown, I’ll throw you a wedding.”

“We’re not sure yet.” Lola frowned slightly. “By the way, where exactly is your home?”

Hazel said, “Back to the countryside, of course.”

Lola’s voice immediately got louder: “The countryside?”
