Chapter 22
Liam immediately released her.
“Liza, don’t you recognize me? It’s Liam.”
“I’m Liam, the one you loved most.”
She merely covered herself, clearly still confused, and mumbled: “Liam? Don’t know him. Where’s
Julian? Where’s my Julian?”
Liam froze, finally knowing what true despair felt like.
Before, he could still lie to himself–telling himself Eliza was just angry, trying to get back at him. No
way she’d stopped loving him. No way she’d fallen for someone else.
But now, the truth was ignorable-
Eliza didn’t love him–not even a little.
The person she loved most was no longer him!
“Liza…” Liam’s hand reached out, but only to wrap his jacket more securely around her.
“I’ve already hurt you so much. How could I dare to hurt you again?”
He smiled bitterly as he returned to the driver’s seat.
Liam watched the woman he loved most through the rearview mirror, knowing this truly was
goodbye.
“Liza, as long as you’re happy… it doesn’t matter if it’s not with me.”
The car started, speeding toward the hospital.
“Liza, if one day I stop treating you right… leave me. Don’t look back. Don’t forgive me.”
For some reason, he suddenly remembered these words–what sixteen–year–old Liam had written so carefully in his letter to his future self.

Chapter 22
If that boy had known that at twenty–six, Liam would torture Eliza for an outsider, even drug her in an attempt to control her life…
He would surely have killed his future self.
Tears filled his eyes. “Liza, promise me, never forgive me.”
Liam wrapped Eliza tightly in his arms as the drug continued to affect her, carefully carrying her
into the emergency room. Then he used his own phone to call Julian.
Watching Julian rush in, he finally left.
Before departing, he looked at her one last time with reluctance.
“Eliza, if I ever betray you, let I…”
“Never know happiness again, ever.” –
“Then I’ll spend forever just watching over you, hoping–praying–for one single glance.”
Seaside
“Julian, I love this ocean!”
Eliza stood on the mountaintop, her hair damp with sweat.
Julian smiled, taking the mountain bike from her hands.
‘Julian, let’s go to Greece!” She nestled in his arms, pointing to a picture in a travel book.
‘That ocean you painted feels so lonely. You once said you hated being alone the most–so let me go
back there with you, just one more time.”
Her eyes sparkled. Julian looked at his old painting, then at her, unable to resist kissing her forehead.
‘Okay,” he said with a soft smile. “If you’re there, that ocean won’t feel lonely anymore.”
And it was true. Eliza spread her arms toward the sunlight, and the once–silent ocean below the cliff seemed to come alive, shimmering with light.
“Julian, someday, let’s go see the ocean together–all of them, all over the world.”

Eliza leaned on his shoulder, her eyes full of hope.
He didn’t take her words as a joke but solemnly promised:
“I will. I’ll paint all the oceans, with you, me, and Muffin by the seaside.”
He gently kissed the corner of her lips, like an eternal mark.
They promised to see all the oceans, to be together forever and ever.
